GMAT Scores for Top Business Schools – Admission to business schools is very competitive and the admission process is tough. The key components for admission to the top business schools which can make or break any application. The basic requirements of an MBA application are GMAT/GRE score, work experience, GPA, English proficiency test score, MBA essays and Letters of recommendation.

The MBA application also includes a Resume or CV, a concise single-page document. No single parameter in itself can be held completely responsible for the success of an application. A low GMAT/GRE score will not be able to help an applicant to secure a seat in the top school. Similarly, the applicant does not only need to score the prescribed English proficiency test score, he/she actually needs to exceed the prescribed score. The MBA essays, an important aspect of the application process, also play an important role in making the candidate’s case for admission.

The accepted GMAT scores at the top business schools are in the higher bracket usually above 700+. Though the GMAT score range happens to be in the range of 650 – 700, aspirants benefit from having their scores closer to the higher range than the lower. The GMAT score is without doubt the first of the many important elements in the application procedure for admission to the top schools. According to the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), GMAT score is accepted by more than 7000 programmes at about 2300 business schools. There are more than 600 GMAT test centres in more than 100 countries worldwide.

Along with the GMAT scores, another important criteria which is not overlooked for admissions to the top business schools is the English proficiency exams. A few English proficiency exams are IELTS, TOEFL and PTE. Different business schools prescribe different English proficiency scores

GMAT, a three and half hour test, is divided among four core sections- Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative and Verbal. The total marks for GMAT is 800. To send GMAT scores to top business schools, candidates are required to know the institution code of the institution they are applying to and then send their scores through their GMAC accounts officially.
