About SAT 2023
What is SAT?: The SAT is a standardised test widely used for college admissions in United States and Canada. The SAT full form is the Scholastic Assessment Test. It is administered by the College Board, a non-profit organisation, and is designed to assess a student's readiness for college and provide colleges with a common data point that can be used to compare the academic preparedness of applicants. The SAT exam primarily evaluates a student's mathematical, verbal, and writing skills. The SAT registration can be done from the official website - satsuite.collegeboard.org
The SAT test is mostly for high school students who plan to enrol in one of the SAT-accredited colleges. Usually, high school juniors and seniors (classes 11 and 12) take the SAT exam to get admission. SAT is an accepted exam for admission to many schools and universities based in the United States, Canada, Australia, and many popular study destinations of the world. SAT is also accepted by many Indian universities for giving admission to undergraduate courses.
What is SAT Digital? Know paper pattern
The SAT exam has gone through various changes and updates over the years, and one major transformation occurred in 2023 when the College Board introduced the SAT Digital Exam, a digital version of the test to adapt to the changing technological landscape.
This SAT is conducted seven times a year across 30 Indian cities, and hosted in more than 50 partnering institutions. What sets the SAT Digital exam apart is its streamlined nature; it takes 2 hours and 14 minutes to complete. Notably, the SAT Digital exam is one hour shorter compared to its previous version. Adding to the convenience, students are now allowed to bring their own laptops or iPads to the test centre.
The transition to the digital SAT is a global initiative, with international students outside the United States being the first to experience this format in March 2023. On the other hand, US-based students will have the opportunity to take the SAT Digital Exam starting in 2024. This change aims to ensure that all students, regardless of their location, can benefit from a more modern and efficient testing experience.
The SAT Digital exam consists of two main sections: the reading and writing section and the mathematics section. Each section is scored on a scale of 400 to 800 marks, with a potential total score of 1600 marks.
Importantly, SAT scores are calculated and reported based on individual section scores, providing a detailed breakdown of a student's performance in each area. This comprehensive scoring system allows both students and colleges to gain valuable insights into a test-taker's academic strengths and weaknesses.
SAT Exam Latest Updates: What’s New?
The new SAT exam will be shorter. The exam now lasts two hours rather than three.
The SAT's reading passages will now be shorter. The SAT exam syllabus will cover a wide range of subjects that correspond to the subjects that college students study.
Calculators will be permitted for the SAT exam Math component.
The SAT results will come through quickly so that students and teachers can get their SAT scores within days.
Instead of five chances throughout the year, international applicants will now have seven opportunities to take the SAT exam.
The SAT test will start to be distributed digitally internationally in 2023. It will go into effect in the US starting in 2024.
There won't be a paper-and-pencil SAT test since all international testing sites will switch to digital SAT exam dates testing in March 2023. This applies to the SAT exam in India as well.
Beginning in the fall of 2023, all students taking PSAT-related tests will use digital testing. However, pen and paper will be used for the SAT School Day and SAT Weekend administrations in the United States.
From spring 2024, the entire SAT Suite of Assessments will be available online.
The SAT exam will be graded out of 1600 points. Assessments will not be given at home but rather in a testing facility or school with a proctor present.

Preparing for the SAT can be a challenging but rewarding experience. Here are some SAT preparation tips to help you succeed on this important standardised test:
Understanding the SAT - Candidates should be clear about the format and the types of questions that appear on the SAT for better SAT preparation.
Grasp Concepts - Candidates should ensure that they have a firm knowledge and understanding of the subject areas assessed by the SAT. This can be done through regular study and revision of the topics taught in school.
Practice/ Mock Tests - Candidates should solve SAT practice tests and mock tests in a timed environment to gain a semblance of the testing day procedures. Taking the SAT Practice test will also allow the candidate to pinpoint areas that need further study or SAT preparation.
Follow a Schedule - Candidates must maintain a schedule for SAT 2023 preparation to ensure regular study and practice in order to obtain a high SAT score.
After 2023, the SAT exam pattern has changed in its digital format. As per the latest update, SAT is now divided into two primary sections: the Reading and Writing section, and the Mathematics section. All questions in the SAT exam are multiple-choice questions (MCQ), with the addition of 11 SPR (Student-Produced Response) type questions. The SAT exam duration is 2 hours and 14 minutes, which includes a 10-minute break in the middle.
The shift from the traditional SAT to the new SAT Digital has brought about a number of notable changes. Subject tests have been eliminated, and essays are no longer part of the SAT for international students. This has resulted in a significant reduction in the overall duration of the SAT Digital exam, nearly shaving off an hour of testing time. The total number of questions has also been reduced.
In the SAT Digital format, candidates have the option to use a basic calculator for answering all Math section questions or utilise the graphic calculator available on the digital platform.

It's like a ranking that shows what percentage of test-takers did better or worse than you. Below your total score, there's something called your "Score Range." There are two ways to share the SAT score with the universities. First, the candidates can select the universities/colleges at the time of registration or any time between registration and 9 days after the date of the test. The second option is regular score reporting which is a paid option.

Candidates can request additional score reports if they want to share the SAT score with more than 4 colleges or if they haven't given the names of the universities for free reporting. i have done my 12th in PCB can i do 12 math though NIOS to get the eligibility criteria for abroad and can i get admission in indian engineering colleges with 12 with NIOS with also SAT scores
Hi, you can sit for Maths exam through NIOS. The eligibility criteria for getting into an engineering college would be 50% aggregate in PCM. For studying abroad you will have to appear for English proficiency test. For colleges in India SAT score is not required as many of the colleges do not consider it. You will have to appear for entrance exams such as state level CET or JEE Mains. Either way once you appear for maths you will be eligible for both in India as well as for abroad. Hope this helps.
