    About The University of Sydney

    The University of Sydney is a Public Research University, established in 1850 in Sydney, Australia. It is the oldest University in Australia. The University comprises 8 faculties providing Bachelor’s, Master’s and Research Degree Programs to both domestic and international students. The faculties are Architecture, Design and Planning, Arts and Social Sciences, Business, Engineering, Law, Medicine and Health, Science and Conservatorium of Music.     The University of Sydney Camperdown/Darlington campus is the main and biggest campus with 72 hectares area.     The University of Sydney admissions process requires students to check the entry requirements of the course they wish to pursue. Applicants must fulfil all the entry requirements of the selected degree program before applying at the University. The University of Sydney has designed a  Foundation Program (USFP) to assist international students who do not meet the entry requirements of the desired Undergraduate course.

    University of Sydney admissions: How to Apply?

    The steps to apply for admission at the University of Sydney are as follows:

    • Visit the official website of the University at

    • Go to ‘Study’ and click on ‘Find a Course’.

    • The Course Search Page will open.

    • Click on the selected course.

    • Check the entry requirements.

    • Click on the ‘Apply now’ button.

    • Click on Apply directly after selecting the entry year.

    • Click on the New Applicant and register.

    • The login credentials will be sent on the registered email id of the applicant.

    • Login at Registered Applicant and fill the application form.

    • Scan and upload the required documents and submit the application.

    Applicants will receive a response from the University after which they will have to pay the application fee. This completes the process of application. International students may also need to complete an additional GTE (Genuine Temporary Entrant) assessment as part of the University's application process. 

    Application Fee of the University of Sydney  

    The students applying for the admission at the University of Sydney have to pay the application fee of AU$150.00. The application fee is non refundable.

    The University of Sydney offers a number of scholarships for both domestic and international  students. The Scholarships in Australia are general and faculty based.     The University of Sydney Eligibility

    The eligibility criteria to get admission at the University of Sydney is provided under the list of degree programmes. Applicants can check their eligibility under the selected degree course. The minimum eligibility to get admission at the University of Sydney is as follows:

    • Applicants should be at least 17 or more than 25 years of age at the time of admission.

    • Applicants must meet the minimum educational qualifications required to take admission in the selected course or degree program at the University of Sydney.

    • Applicants must have completed the education required for a particular degree course, from a recognised institution.

    • Applicants should meet the English Language Proficiency Requirements of the University.

    English Language Requirements of the University of Sydney:

    International students who do not have English as their first language, need to provide the evidence of their English language proficiency mandatory to meet the English language requirements of the University of Sydney.

    The University of Sydney Campus Life

    The University of Sydney has Camperdown/Darlington Campus, Camden Campus, Mallett Street Campus, Sydney College of the Arts and some satellite campuses. Camperdown/Darlington is the main and biggest campus of the University and includes six libraries, art galleries, historical museums and beautiful lawns. There is much more that University campus has to offer. Campus life allows the students to make long lasting friendships and experience vibrant and diverse communities. 

    Campus life is much more than classes and lectures. Students can develop their hobbies and interests, and participate in extracurricular activities. Variety of food and beverages are served at the University campuses. Learning support is provided to the students from their initial stage to the completion of their degree programs.

    Career Counselling Services are available for the students to put them in the right career position by the end of the degree program. Students can access student entrepreneurship programs and undergraduate students can undertake an industry project and there are several internship programs ongoing. The Campus has a busy calendar of events throughout the year, with highlights including Sydney Ideas (public talks program), Raising the Bar and International Festival that makes campus life much more exciting for students.

    The University of Sydney Library is located at 14 different locations across campuses of Darlington/ Camperdown, Camden and Sydney CBD. The library has more than 5,000 study spaces to facilitate individual and group study. The other facilities and amenities available at the library include bookable desks, group study rooms, computers, printers & scanners, Wi-Fi access, kitchens and vending machines and technological equipment such as 3D printers and Virtual Reality. Peer Learning Advisors are readily available to help students.


     Students can access the University's wireless network ‘UniSydney’ on any wireless-enabled device on campus.


    The Sydney Nanoscience Hub houses six research labs: the Eggleton Laboratory, the Quantum Nanoscience Laboratory, the Quantum Control Laboratory, the Integrated Microwave Photonic Laboratory, and the Thin-film optoelectronics and photovoltaics (TOP) materials and devices Laboratory.

    The University of Sydney offers medical services for its staff and students. The medical centres are well staffed with doctors and nurses providing services such as treatment of illness, injury and other physical problems, routine health checkups, travel health advice, vaccinations and women related health problems.     The Sydney Uni Sports & Aquatic Centre (SUSAC) Gym Extension is close to complete with a large chunk of the new training space already open to members.  


    The University of Sydney has 40+ sports clubs and organises world-class sporting events. Students with a keen interest in sports can work on their performance under the guidance of some of Australia's most accomplished coaches and sportspeople. The University also offers sporting scholarships and an Elite Athlete Program. Some of the prominent sports that are available at the University include Archery, Football, Cricket, Swimming, Boxing, Table Tennis, Badminton and Taekwondo. 


    Transport Facility

    Public transportation facilities such as trains, buses, campus buses, light rails (trams) and ferries are available to facilitate the student’s travel to the main campus building of the University of Sydney. Students will need an adult Opal card to use the public transport network of Sydney. The campus has three bike stations, where students can park and repair their bikes.
