Test takers can access their results of GRE 2025 by logging into their registered ETS account. Achieving a good GRE score helps international students be a part of top universities abroad. Generally, a 160 score of GRE in each section is considered a good score for aspirants. However, good GRE results 2025 depend on the university. Every university releases GRE cutoffs for students to get admission. To ace the exam by achieving excellent GRE results, students must register for the exam 2 to 3 months before the exam date. The GRE score validity is 5 years; students can send their best score within these 5 years to their selected universities. Students are required to submit their GRE total score to colleges through the defined medium.
GRE scores have two aspects, which are a scaled score between 130 and 170 and a percentile rank, which serves as a proven measure to check an applicant's readiness for master-level courses abroad. Anything above the 75th percentile in GRE results is generally good. GRE Subject test results time is notified within 5 weeks. Every GRE subject test is calculated on a score scale of 200 to 990. Hence, students must appear for the exam 2-3 months prior to achieve and meet the score requirements of the selected university. In general, a score above 160 in quantitative and verbal reasoning is a good GRE score. On the other hand, a good score for the GRE Analytical Writing (AWA) section is 4.0 or higher. The 75th and 90th percentiles in GRE results are also good scores.
After 10 to 15 days of the exam date, students will receive their official GRE results for the general test. At the GRE 2025 test centre, candidates who took the computer-based exam can find out their unofficial verbal reasoning and quantitative reasoning results.
The unofficial GRE score for analytical writing will not be made available to candidates after the GRE test because the essay question is not scored in real-time. GRE score 2025 will be evaluated on a scale from 130 to 170. On August 1, 2011, the scoring system was modified, and it has remained that way ever since. The breakdown of the GRE score 2025 report according to the GRE 2025 syllabus is:
Section-wise GRE score range:
Measure | GRE Scores |

The GRE verbal and quantitative reasoning cut-off for several universities' programs is also available online.
For each of the six GRE 2025 topic tests, scores are reported on a scale from 200 to 990, in 10-point increments. Sub-scores for the biology and psychology assessments are given on a scale of 20 to 99, with each point worth one. The GRE score validity is up to 5 years. So, aspirants for higher education can provide the universities or institutions with their most current GRE subject scores from 2025 or the results of all exams taken in the previous five years.
Only questions that have been correctly answered are taken into account when grading the GRE 2025 Subject Test. No points are deducted for improperly marked answers. The number of questions that must be successfully answered varies depending on how challenging the test's questions are. As a result, the reported GRE subject score may fluctuate even though the same number of right answers were given on all exams.
After receiving their unofficial GRE results, test participants have the option to accept or reject their scores. After viewing the scores, the GRE General Exam 2025 results cannot be changed. GRE scores for any specific component cannot be cancelled for the exam.
After cancellation, the student's GRE score will not be available for review or transmitted to the colleges and universities they selected while registering for the exam. The GRE results won't appear in the reportable history area of the students' ETS accounts, and they won't be returned if the students decide to cancel their GRE score 2025.
The GRE Score Select helps the candidates in deciding the total GRE scores 2025 that are to be sent to the designated institutions or universities. Candidates can do it by two methods:

Most Recent: Sends the scores from the GRE score report 2025.
All: Sends all scores from all the GRE tests taken in the last five years.
Any: Sends scores from one or as many tests were taken in the last five years.

The verbal and quantitative measures of the GRE test are scored based on correct responses in the operational sections. A raw score for every correct answer in the GRE test is computed, and later these raw scores are converted to scale scores through equating. These raw scores can be converted by the candidate using the GRE score calculator tool available online.
The analytical section receives the score from a trained rater on a 6-point scale. Later, the e-rater, i.e., the computer program, gives the score for the essays. The final score of the essays is the average of both human and computer scores on a scale of 0 to 6.
A score above 160 in each section and an essay scoring 5 points helps the candidate get into most of the programs in top colleges. Anyhow, the best score depends on the cut-off marks required for admission into the college chosen by the candidate. Generally, the score required in top universities, like the GRE score for Harvard University, is around 300.

For calculating the GRE scores, the ETS considers the GRE score from the last 3 years of the GRE scorecard of all GRE test takers. Here the percentile indicates the percentage of receiving a GRE score less than the candidate. For instance, if the GRE score of a section is 156, which is 70 percent, then it indicates that 156 is the highest GRE score among 70 percent of GRE test takers in that particular section.
Since the candidates know about their GRE score and percentiles of which they have scored, among others, this gives an insight into their performance in the GRE exam.
GRE unofficial scores are received at the end of the exam. The GRE unofficial scores comprise scores of only the verbal and quantitative sections. The analytical writing scores will be available only with the official score report.
GRE exam pattern is the overview of a number of GRE questions, scores, and timing for each section, which are mentioned below.

GRE, TOEFL, IELTS, and GMAT are standardized tests often required for admission to universities abroad, but they serve different purposes. The **GRE** (Graduate Record Examination) is used for admission to graduate programs and some business schools, focusing on verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing. The **TOEFL** (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and **IELTS** (International English Language Testing System) assess English language proficiency, often required for non-native speakers applying to English-speaking countries; TOEFL is more common in the U.S., while IELTS is popular in the U.K. and other regions. The **GMAT** (Graduate Management Admission Test) is specifically for business school admissions, testing quantitative, verbal, analytical writing, and integrated reasoning skills, and is required for MBA programs. Dear Student,
For admittance to premier universities like MIT, Harvard, Stanford, UC Berkeley, and CMU, your resume must be exceptionally strong.
Even if you address all of the aforementioned criteria, there is no assurance that you will be admitted to one of the universities you have named. When you make a decision, a combination of all these criteria will be taken into account, but these 10 ideas are a fantastic place to start.
I know someone who received acceptance letters from MIT, UC Berkeley, and Carnegie Mellon University for their MS and PhD programmes after scoring between 1400 and 1600 on the GRE. He applied with an excellent resume that included a 9+ GPA throughout college, two years of research in Microsoft R&D, and a few patents. Therefore, what matters is your whole profile.
I hope that helps! I wish you the best!
