    New Zealand has introduced a new online application for visas to process all international study visas. The new online system was launched on August 18, 2025. It aims to smooth the application process by making it easier. The application will now include built-in guidance to reduce errors. This aims at faster processing and giving out timely visa decisions to prospective students. However, students must note that they can submit the New Zealand student visa applications in the old draft format till September 17, 2025.

    With the advent of such an online system, international students do not need to face longer waiting times, even during peak admission times in New Zealand. Also, effective from November 3, 2025, eligible students can work for up to 25 hours per week during term time. The previous number of hours for candidates on a student visa in New Zealand was 20 hours per term.
