    About GMAT Exam 2026

What is GMAT exam? GMAT is a computer-based adaptive test conducted by GMAC. GMAT is taken by students seeking admission to master’s programmes in management, business or MBA. The GMAT full form is Graduate Management Admission Test. Through the GMAT exam, the test takers can enrol in business or management-related courses in top B-schools worldwide. New GMAT 2026 evaluates the analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills of an individual. On July 1, 2024, the GMAT focus edition was changed to "GMAT exam", however, the structure of the exam, content and features remain the same.

Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) introduced the GMAT exam, an entrance exam for admission into business schools to more than 7700 programs provided by 2400 universities worldwide. The GMAT Exam Dates 2026 are available all round the year. The GMAT meets the demands of B-Schools and focuses on testing higher-order critical reasoning and data literacy skills. The new pattern of the GMAT exam is efficient, flexible, and insightfully redesigned considering the requirements of leading business schools and its wide number of courses, and programs available worldwide.

The new GMAT 2026 is similar to the previous GMAT exam, it is a computer-based test that can be attempted from home or at a test centre with a total score ranging from 205-805. A major change is introduced in the GMAT exam pattern and syllabus. There are only three sections in the GMAT, with lowered test duration and insightful scoring- verbal, quantitative, and data insights that assess the problem-solving, critical thinking, and data analysis skills of a candidate.

GMAT Exam 2026 - Latest Updates

    • The GMAC has recently announced a major shift in their policy: The long-standing 8-attempt lifetime limit for the GMAT is now no more. From now on, there is no lifetime limit for the GMAT exam.

    • The other thing that needs to be kept in mind is that even though the lifetime limit has been removed, the rule of a maximum of 5 attempts in a rolling 12-month period still continues.

Changes in the GMAT Test Pattern

    • GMAT exam duration is now 2 hours and 15 minutes (exclusive of one optional break of 10 minutes).
    • There are three 45-minute sections and no essay. Candidates can attempt sections in any order.
    • Candidates can now bookmark and review as many GMAT questions as they want.
    • A new section called Data Insights (DI) is added to the GMAT syllabus, while sentence correction is removed.
    • The GMAT exam score scale is 205-805. All three sections are weighed equally towards the total score.
    • The 2 reasoning sections of 'Quantitative Reasoning & Verbal' are the same in the GMAT exam syllabus

GMAT Exam Date in India 2026

Candidates can check the nearest test centre that they can reach easily on the exam day. Almost all the dates in the coming months of 2026 are available for the GMAT.
