MCAT (Medical College Admission Test)

The MCAT is one of the popular MBBS entrance exams accepted in more than 5 countries, especially for MBBS in USA, and MBBS in Canada. The MCAT medical entrance test measures your knowledge of concepts in natural and social scenes and skills in problem-solving and critical thinking abilities necessary to study medicine.

The test is conducted by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). Indian students can take this test if they are willing to study in the best medical universities in USA, Canada or any other MCAT-accepted countries. However, there are no MCAT exam centres in India. So you need to travel USA to take the test or choose other international MCAT test centres like Singapore, Philippines, China, Thailand, etc., based on your interest and feasibility.

UCAT (University Clinical Aptitude Test)

The full form of UCAT is the University Clinical Aptitude Test. The UCAT is the MBBS entrance exam used by medical universities in UK, Every year almost 37,000 students take the UCAT exam to study MBBS in the UCAT-accepting countries.

Only a limited UCAT consortium universities require the UCAT medical entrance test. So you have to check whether your preferred university in these countries accepts UCAT or not. Students are required to take the UCAT in 2025 if they are to start the course in the year 2025-26. The UCAT is a two-hour duration computerised test. The UCAT test can be taken from India at the authorised Pearson test centres located in major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, etc., and more.

The UCATANZ is the entrance test for international students to get enrolled into MBBS in Australia and New Zealand consortium universities. Indians can take this medical entrance exam after 12th class to apply for the limited number of consortium universities in Australia and New Zealand.

ISAT (International Student Assessment Test)

The ISAT is required for international students to study MBBS in Australian Universities. Some of the top universities in Australia like Monash University and University of South Wales accept the ISAT test for MBBS admission purposes. Currently, only 6 universities in Australia accept the ISAT test for the MBBS course. So candidates should take the exam after checking the university requirements of the MBBS course.

The ISAT is conducted by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). The test is just 3 hours in duration and contains MCQ types of questions. The test is available four times a year. So you can choose your convenient date and attempt the test from anywhere with your own laptop or computer.

IMAT (International Medical Admissions Test)

IMAT is the medical entrance exam for Indian or other international students to study MBBS in Italy in English. Currently, 16 medical universities in Italy offer MBBS courses in the English language and accept foreign students. All these universities accept the IMAT test for admission selection.

The IMAT consists of 5 sections with 60 MCQs. The test is short and only 100 minutes in duration. Its syllabus includes the contents in general knowledge and logical reasoning and subjects of biology, chemistry, physics, maths, etc. The IMAT test is held only once in a year. You can take this IMAT MBBS test from its authorised test centres in Italy, Canada, Hong Kong, USA, etc and more countries across the world.

NMAT (National Medical Admission Test)

The National Medical Admission test is the entrance MBBS test to study in medical collges of the Phillipines. The medical exam name is commonly referred to as NMAT medicine. NMAT is the mandatory requirement for Indian students to study MBBS in any medical collges in the Phillipines.

The NMAT medicine exam is conducted 2 times a year. The test can be attempted at the test centre from home online at the convenience of students. However, the Indians can take this test only after completing the Pre-med bachelor's degree in BA or MS in the Philippines institutes accredited by CHED.

MECEE (Medical Education Common Entrance Examination)

The Medical Education Commission (MEC) conducts the common entrance examination of bachelor's level programs in health professional education. Most of the Nepal Medical collges require the MECEE exam scores for shortlisting the students for the MBBS course.

The MECEE is conducted only once a year, mostly in November. Indians can take this medical entrance exam after the 12th and should hold at least 50% aggregate in every subject of physics, chemistry biology, etc.

There is no entrance exam to study for MBBS in Russia. Some medical universities in Russia conduct their own university entrance test, through which they shortlist the students for MBBS admissions. However, many universities require NEET exam scores for Indian students admissions.
