If you are going to pursue MBBS abroad, the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) pass percentage is an important factor to consider for a university's quality of education. The FMGE 2024 report published by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) indicates the performance of medical colleges abroad based on the number of universities where Indian students pursued and appeared for MBBS, total number of students who appeared and how many of them actually qualified to practice medicine in India. As per the FMGE 2024, the number of countries and universities where Indians pursued MBBS and have appeared for FMGE exam are nearly 55 countries and 486 universities. The overall number of students who appeared for FMGE 2024 were 79000. Out of them, 20382 students passed the FMGE 2024 and qualified to practise in India. In this article, we will learn about the top countries and universities with the highest FMGE pass percentages (which is 50% and above) of Indian students in 2024. We have only considered universities from which more than 20 Indian students have appeared for the FMGE Exam 2024.
The FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) is a required medical licensure examination for Indian students holding MBBS degrees from foreign institutions. Indian students who study MBBS from foreign universities cannot practice in India until they have cleared the FMGE examination. The FMGE pass rate indicates:

As per the FMGE 2024, we have bifurcated the top countries and universities where Indian students have the highest passing percentage. The universities mentioned below have a passing percentage of 50% or above.
As per the FMGE 2024 data released by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences there are 22 universities from where Indian students pursued MBBS in Georgia and have appeared for FMGE exam in 2024. The total number of Indian students from Georgia who appeared for the FMGE exam in 2024 were 4221 out of which 1505 students passed. So the total passing percentage of the number of students who qualified to practice in India from Georgia is around 35% which shows that the quality of education provided by the MBBS universities of Georgia is sub-par. However, MBBS degrees from Georgia universities are valid in India as the universities in Georgia offer degrees that meet the NMC guidelines. Below mentioned are universities that have a passing percentage of 50% or above with the number of students being more than 25.

As per the FMGE 2024 data released by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences there are 59 universities in Russia (Russian Federation) where Indian students pursued MBBS and have appeared for FMGE exam in 2024. The total number of students who appeared for the FMGE exam in 2024 from Russian universities were 11276 out of which 3331 students passed in total which becomes around 29% of students who qualified to practice medicine in India after pursuing their MBBS degrees from Russia. This is an indication that the quality of education provided by the MBBS universities of Russia is not up to the mark. However, MBBS degrees from Russian universities are valid in India as the universities in Russia offer degrees that meet the NMC guidelines. Below mentioned are universities that have a passing percentage of 50% or above of the students who have qualified the FMGE 2024 and are allowed to practice in India.

According to FMGE 2024, there are 64 universities in Bangladesh where Indian students pursued MBBS and have appeared for FMGE exam in 2024. The total number of students who appeared in the FMGE exam 2024 were 2822 and the number of students who qualified to practice in India were 914. This shows that the passing percentage of the number of students who can practice in India after qualifying from Bangladesh universities is nearly around 32% which clearly indicates that the medicine in Bangladesh provides average MBBS education. But, because MBBS universities in Bangladesh offer degrees that meet the NMC guidelines, the degrees are valid in India. Below mentioned are the MBBS universities of Bangladesh who have a passing percentage of more than 50%.

According to FMGE 2024, there were just 4 universities in Iran (Iran Islamic Republic Of Iran) where Indian students pursued MBBS and appeared for FMGE exam 2024. In these 4 universities, the number of students who appeared for the exam were 105 and 56 of them cleared FMGE exam 2024 to practice in India which means that around 53% MBBS students qualified. This shows the quality of education in Iran is decent but still students do not prefer Iran as the study destination for MBBS because of language barriers, cost of studying and various other factors. Below you will get to know about the MBBS universities in Iran where 50 or more students appeared to pursue their degrees and the passing percentage to practice in India was also more than 50%.

As per the FMGE 2024 data released by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences there are 23 universities in Kazakhstan where Indian students pursued MBBS and have appeared for FMGE exam in 2024. The total number of students who appeared for the FMGE exam in 2024 in Kazakhstan were 5018 out of which only 1261 students passed to practice in India which becomes a passing percentage of around 25%. MBBS from Kazakhstan universities are considered valid in India since it meets all the NMC guidelines. However, the passing percentage of the students to practice medicine in India shows that the quality of education in Kazakhstan for MBBS is below average. Out of 23 universities, there was only 1 university that had a passing percentage of more than 50% whose details have been mentioned below.

According to FMGE 2024, in Mauritius, there are only 2 MBBS universities where Indian students studied MBBS and appeared for FMGE 2024 out of which only 1 university has a passing percent of more than 50%. The other university named, Anna Medical College, had a passing percentage of 36.32%. According to FMGE 2024, there were 21 universities in Nepal where Indian students pursued MBBS and appeared for FMGE exam 2024. The total number of students who appeared for the FMGE exam 2024 were 1809 and 545 of them passed to practice medicine in India which means that around 30% students qualified. This shows the quality of education in Nepal is inadequate. However, the MBBS from Nepal are valid in India as it meets all the NMC guidelines. According to FMGE 2024, there are 26 universities in the Philippines where Indian students pursued MBBS and have appeared for FMGE exam in 2024. The total number of students who appeared in the FMGE exam 2024 from the Philippines were 9967 and the number of students who qualified to practice in India were 2003. This shows that the passing percentage of the number of students who can practice in India after qualifying from Philippines universities is nearly around 20% only which clearly indicates that the medical universities in Philippines provide poor education. But, because MBBS in the Philippines offer degrees that meet the NMC guidelines, the degrees are valid in India. Below mentioned are the MBBS universities of Philippines who have a passing percentage of more than 50%.

According to FMGE 2024, there were just 3 universities in Saint Lucia where Indian students pursued MBBS and appeared for FMGE exam 2024. In these 3 universities, the total number of students who appeared for the FMGE exam were 169 and 50 of them passed to practice in India which means that around 29% students qualified. This shows the quality of education in Saint Lucia is not up to the mark and students do not prefer this study abroad destination much for MBBS. Out of the 3, there was only 1 university that had a passing percentage of more than 50% whose details are mentioned below.

Out of 486 universities globally only 22 universities are there where the FMGE pass percentage is 50% and above. So, check the background and other similar factors before moving to study MBBS abroad.

The total number of students who appeared for FMGE 2024 were 79000 from 55 countries and 486 universities. Among these, 20382 students qualified the FMGE exam 2024 and got eligible to practice in India.

As per the FMGE 2024, the number of universities are 22 that have a higher pass percentage and whose number of students are also more than 20.
The countries that have a comparatively higher pass percentage in FMGE 2024 include Georgia, Bangladesh, Russia, Iran, Nepal, Philippines, Saint Lucia, Barbados, Mauritius and Kazakhstan.
