The ISAT exam stands for International Student Admissions Test. It is a standardised computer-based test meant to assess the academic ability of overseas students applying to undergraduate programmes, primarily in medicine and health, at participating universities throughout the world.
One can sit for the ISAT exam once a year. If you want to retake the test, there must be a mandatory 12-month gap between the two ISAT exams. This is to ensure that test-takers have sufficient time to prepare for the next exam.
ISAT scores are typically valid for two years. Applicants should ensure their scores are within the acceptable timeframe when applying for admission to Australian universities.
The difficulty of the ISAT exam varies according to your academic background and test-taking experience. The ISAT evaluates essential academic skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, reading comprehension, and writing rather than specialised scientific knowledge. Some students find the ISAT less difficult when compared to exams like the UCAT. Practice examinations and becoming comfortable with the ISAT format can make a significant impact on your test scores.
