Overview of Digital SAT Test Format

The SAT digital practice test mirrors the new format of the SAT exam. Digital SAT is shorter in duration and has different question types, and is a computer-adaptive test that helps in evaluating students based on their performance.

  • Adaptive Testing

This system of testing helps in evaluating students based on their performance on each question. As the SAT will have two modules for each section, the difficulty level of the second module for each section will depend on the performance of the candidate in the first attempted module. If the candidate is successful in attempting the first module with the most accurate answers, the second module will be a tougher one; otherwise, it will be vice versa. The first module will have a mix of easy and difficult questions.

Digital SAT Test Sections

Digital SAT practice tests will mirror the main SAT 2025 and the way the sections are divided, along with their detailed description, is discussed below. Students should show consistency in attempting the digital SAT practice test and may also download some of the SAT digital practice test PDFs for regular practice of different questions.

  • Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW)

Study in USA

Study in Australia

This has two parts in the same module: the first is the reading section, and the next is the writing section. Students will attempt both the parts included in the same module, with a time duration of 32 minutes and 27 questions in total.

  • Reading Section: As the digital SAT 2025 is online and has multiple-choice questions, the reading paragraphs are not lengthy but just around 100-150 words. Students are required to perfect themselves in using various strategies to solve the different types of SAT verbal reading questions. The different question types are categorised as:

  • Main idea and purpose

  • Inference and Evidence

  • Vocabulary in context

  • Text structure and tone

  • Writing and Language Section: In the digital SAT 2025, this section mainly focuses on evaluating grammar, punctuation, and sentence structures. The different grammar skills that students need to focus on are:

  • Verb tense consistency

  • Parallel structure

  • Pronouns

  • Subject-verb agreement

  • Sentence combinations and transitions

  • Digital SAT Math Section

There are two modules of the Math section, and in the Digital SAT 2025, Desmos (the digital calculator) can be used throughout the module.

  • No Calculator: Some of the topics that students need to prepare without using a calculator are as follows:

  • Arithmetic

  • Algebraic manipulation

  • Linear equations

  • Calculator: Students need to focus on the given topics and can use a calculator for these.

  • Complex equations

  • Geometry and trigonometry

  • Data analysis and statistics

  • Word problems

Digital SAT Question Types

Digital SAT 2025 has two main types of questions, discussed below. Students need to make sure they have ample practice in attempting the digital SAT practice tests so that they are able to manage time accurately and analyse their weaknesses regularly by reviewing the mistakes made in the SAT digital practice test.

  • Multiple Choice Questions

These are standardised questions with four options to select the most accurate answer. Students may use strategies depending on the type of question and reach the answer.

  • Grid-In Questions

This is used for the Math section only. Students need to attempt the answer in the grid rather than just selecting the main answer. The point to remember is that you should have the correct answer to score points; only steps with a wrong answer will not be given any points for accuracy.

Digital SAT Scoring and Reporting

While preparing and attempting the SAT digital practice tests, one should have clear knowledge about the scoring parameters and how their score range can affect their selection process by universities.

  • Score Ranges

Both sections of the SAT: Evidence-based Reading and Writing and Math are scored on a range of 400- 1600, wherein each section is scored between 200- 800 points. The SAT follows a computer-adaptive system, so the scores are based on the difficulty level a student has attempted successfully. There is no penalty for guessing, so students are recommended to attempt all the questions.

  • Immediate Feedback

Students can view their scores by logging in with their College Board credentials. It may take around 13-14 days for the scores to be updated, and these can be shared with the colleges and universities directly.

SAT Digital Technical Requirements

Some of the technical requirements students must know to attempt the digital SAT practice tests and have a real exam-like experience are as follows:

  • Device Compatibility

The Digital SAT Practice Test and the real exam can be taken on the following devices:

  • Windows or macOS laptops

  • iPads (with iOS 13.4 or later)

  • School-provided Chromebooks

Software and Apps

Students are recommended to use the official College Board’s application bluebook, and perfect themselves in using Desmos, the digital calculator integrated into the application for the math section. Khan Academy is also recommended and partnered with by the College Board for SAT digital practice tests.

Test-Taking Strategies for the Digital SAT Format

Some of the SAT test-taking strategies for the digital SAT format, which students must practice and perfect themselves are as follows:

  • Navigation Tips

Students may use the flag tool to flag a question and come back to re-attempt it. Although the SAT is digital, scratch paper is available for any sort of rough work; also, students can use the highlighter tool to highlight words and sentences while attempting the Evidence-based reading and writing section of the SAT 2025.

  • Time Management

Do not spend more than one minute on any question in the first module, and practice using the digital stopwatch even at the time of attempting the digital SAT practice tests.

Students preparing for the SAT 2025 must perfect themselves in using the digital tools and attempt at least 10 SAT digital practice tests to be confident for the real SAT.

Questions related to SAT

Have a question related to SAT ?

Hello,

Yes, you can write the session 1 exam even if your 12th mark sheet was not uploaded during the BIT SAT application . Usually, not uploading the mark sheet at the time of registration does not stop you from appearing in the exam.

Just make sure to upload the required documents before the final admission process or as instructed by the exam authority.

If you want to be completely sure, you can check with the BIT SAT help desk or their official website for any specific rules about this. But generally, there is no objection for writing the session 1 exam in this case.

Hope it helps !

Hello there,

The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) program sets specific criteria for awarding scholarships, including minimum qualifying marks in both the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).

General Eligibility Criteria:

  • Mental Ability Test (MAT): Minimum 40% marks.

  • Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT): Minimum 40% marks.

  • SC/ST Categories: Minimum 32% marks in both MAT and SAT.

In the case of the MBC (Most Backward Classes) student from Kallakurichi district who scored 52 in MAT and 49 in SAT, the combined total is 101. However, the selection for the NMMS scholarship is not solely based on the total score; it also considers the individual performance in MAT and SAT.

According to the NMMS guidelines, candidates must meet the minimum qualifying marks in both tests. Therefore, despite the overall score, if the student did not achieve the required minimum in either MAT or SAT, they would not be selected for the scholarship.

It's important to note that selection lists are prepared based on district-wise cutoffs, which can vary each year. These cutoffs depend on factors such as the number of applicants and the overall performance in the district.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries, then feel free to share your questions with us, we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you, and I wish you all the best in your bright future.

The student might not have been selected for the NMMS scholarship due to a few possible reasons. Although the scores of 52 in MAT and 49 in SAT are decent, the selection for the scholarship depends on various factors such as the cut-off marks, overall performance, and availability of scholarships for the MBC category in the specific district. Each district may have different cut-offs, and if the student's scores did not meet the district's requirements, they may not have been selected.

There might be reservation criteria for selection to scholarship. Unreserved, EWS and OBC have usually high cutoff whereas SC ST categories have lower cutoff.

This might be a potential reason why someone on even getting more marks in comparison to the low scoring candidate has been selected in the scholarship.
