Passage:
I grew up with buckets, shovels, and nets waiting by the back door; hip-waders hanging in the closet; tide table charts covering the refrigerator door; and a microscope was sitting on the kitchen table. Having studied, my mother is a marine biologist. Our household might have been described as uncooperative. Our meals weren’t always served in the expected order of breakfast, lunch, and supper. Everything was subservient to the disposal of the tides. When the tide was low, Mom could be found down on the mudflats. When the tide was high, she would be standing on the inlet bridge with her plankton net. I have great respect for my mother. I learned early that the moon affected the tides. Mom was always waiting for a full or new moon, when low tide would be lower than average and high tide higher than average. The moon is aligned with Earth and the sun when full or new, so its gravity combines with the sun’s gravity to create an even stronger gravitational pull. I knew that it took about eight hours for the tides to change from high to low, sixteen hours for a complete cycle of tides. I didn’t have to wait to learn these things in school. In our house, they were everyday knowledge.

Question 10: A right triangle has legs of lengths 6 cm and 8 cm. What is the length of the hypotenuse?
A. 10 cm
B. 12 cm
C. 14 cm
D. 15 cm
Explanation:
Answer 1: Option C. waiting by the back door,
Explanation: The original version is grammatically inaccurate because it uses commas to separate “waiting” and “by the back door”. In the corrected version, the preposition “by” is used to correctly relate the words “waiting” and “the back door”.
Answer 2: Option C. Sitting
Explanation: The original sentence is in the past tense, and the corrected version maintains consistency by using the present participle, Sitting, to depict the continuous action.
Answer 3: Option D. My mother is
Explanation: The given sentence is a tiny bit clumsy and ambiguous. In the corrected version, the statement is simplified by using “My mother is” to clearly indicate her job.
Answer 4: To find the cost of gas for a car to travel a certain distance, you can use the formula:
Cost = $\frac{Distance}{\text{Miles per gallon}} \times$ Cost per gallon
In this case, the car averages 27 miles per gallon, and you want to find the cost for it to travel 2,727 miles with gas priced at $4.04 per gallon.
Cost = $\frac{2727}{27} \times$ 4.04
Cost = 100.777 $\times$ 4.04
Cost ≈ 407.051
Therefore, the closest option is $408.04.
Therefore, Option D is the right answer.
Answer 5: Given, $3x - 7 = 2x + 5$
So, $3x - 2x = 5 + 7$
It means, $x = 12$
Therefore, option B is the correct answer.
Answer 6: Option B. is
Explanation: "The team" is a collective noun, which takes a singular verb unless clearly referring to individuals. Therefore, it is right.
Answer 7: Option B. Sunlight increases growth
Explanation: Plant A exhibited greater growth in light, which confirms the hypothesis that exposure to light promotes growth.
Answer 8: Option B. Type of bacteria
Explanation: When testing the effect of temperature on growth, the type of bacteria should be constant in order to measure the effect of temperature alone.
Answer 9: The ACT Writing evaluation tests your skill and ability in developing a logical argument, organising an essay, and employs logic and appropriate examples.
Answer 10: Using Pythagoras' Theorem,
(H)2 = (B)2 + (P)2
Therefore, (H)2 = (6)2 + (8)2
It means (H)2 = 100
Therefore, Hypotenuse = 10 cm
Hence, option A is the correct answer.

The difficulty level of exam depends on the test takers and the preparation level. Some test takers may find it difficult to solve mathematical problems, while others may find it hard to deal with the reading or writing section.
Ideally, it will take around 3 to 4 months to complete the ACT syllabus and practice with the ACT practice tests. Candidates who are starting their preparation from scratch might take 6 months to prepare for ACT.
Free ACT practice test online are available on the official website - act.org. Candidates can practice with the section-wise ACT questions, and can also download full-length mock tests from the ACT website.
SAT and ACT both different in terms of exam pattern and syllabus. SAT comprises maths, reading and writing, while ACT syllabus also includes science and English. Hence it depends on the individual which exam they find easy or difficult.
Follow the below steps to get the ACT practice test:
1) You can log in to My ACT.
2) Select tests and prep from options to prepare for the ACT.
3) You can register for the ACT or you can choose prep alternatives including ACT free online tests.

Hello Priya,
Let us assume two forces F1 and F2.
In the question , there are two conditions given and accordingly we need to solve the equations by forming two equations.
In the first condition, the angle between two forces is 90 degree so apply the formula for the resultant which is =
F1^2 + F2^2 +2F1F2 *cos 90 = 10^2 - - - (i)
In the second condition the equation will come out to be :-
F1^2 + F2^2 + 2 F1F2 cos 60 = (√13)^2 - - - 2
So from the first get the value of F1 in terms of F2 and substitute in the second equation and a quadratic equation will be formed.
