Australia Awards:

Australia Awards are Government initiatives that consist of scholarships and fellowships administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Department of Education and the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR).

  • Australia Awards Scholarships and Fellowships
    Australia Awards Scholarships are managed by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. They provide recipients with the skills and knowledge to drive change and contribute to the economic and social development of their own countries. Australia Awards Scholarships are awarded each year to citizens of participating countries from Asia, the Pacific, Latin America, the Caribbean, Middle East and Africa who get opportunities for full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study at Australian institutions.


    Australia Awards Fellowships develop leadership, address regional development priorities, and strengthen partnerships and links between Australian organisations and partner organisations in developing countries. They are awarded to senior officials and mid-career professionals who are in a position to advance key development policies and increase the institutional capacity of developing countries. Australia Awards Fellowships provide short term opportunities for in-Australia study, research and professional development activities, hosted by Australian organisations - and do not lead to academic qualifications.
  • Australia Awards Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships (administered by the Department of Education)
    The Australia Awards Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships are internationally competitive, merit-based scholarships that support citizens from eligible countries to pursue study, research and professional development in Australia.

    The programme supports study at the vocational education and training, undergraduate and postgraduate levels, postgraduate and postdoctoral research and professional development opportunities.
    The various Australia Awards Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships are:
    • Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Incoming Postgraduate Scholarship
    • Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship
    • Endeavour VET Scholarship
    • Endeavour Executive Scholarship
    • Endeavour Research Fellowship
    • Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Research Fellowship
    • Australia India Education Council Research Fellowship
  • Australia Awards Fellowships (administered by ACIAR)
    The ACIAR Fellowships Scheme was introduced in 1986 to provide the opportunity to partner country scientists involved in ACIAR-supported collaborative research projects to obtain postgraduate qualifications at Australian tertiary institutions. There are two
    ACIAR Fellowships:

    • John Allwright Fellowship
      It aims to enhance research capacity in ACIAR's partner country institutions. Postgraduate studies undertaken by each awardee are based on the research work being carried out under the collaborative research project in which the awardee is engaged prior to taking up the award.
    • John Dillon Fellowship
      It provides career development opportunities to outstanding young agricultural scientists or economists from ACIAR partner countries who are involved in a current or recently completed ACIAR project. The Fellowship aims to develop leadership skills in the areas of agricultural research management, agricultural policy and/or extension technologies.

International Postgraduate Research Scholarships

The International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) programme focuses on improving the quality of Australian research. It provides candidates an opportunity to study in Australia with some of the best researchers. The International Postgraduate Research Scholarships are open to international students of all countries (except New Zealand) and are available for a period of two years for a research masters degree or three years for a research doctorate degree. The scholarship covers tuition fees and health cover costs for scholarship holders, and health cover costs for their dependants.

Other University-specific Scholarships
