The ACT, or American College Testing, is a standardized exam that is important in college admissions across the USA and Canada. It evaluates how ready a student is for college-level courses. This test is conducted by ACT, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to education. The exam is divided into four main sections: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science, with the Writing test being optional. Each section is scored on a scale from 1 to 36. Generally, high school students take the ACT.
The ACT exam is quite tougher than the SAT exam especially due to the slot giving in both the exams per question. The ACT exam gives less time per question than the SAT test although both the exams vary slightly in subjects and structure. Students with good command in Mathematics and Science generally choose ACT. Taking practice tests can help the students to achieve their desired scores.
Candidates who have completed higher school and are willing to take admission to colleges and universities in the US are eligible to take the ACT exam. However, students in grades 6, 7, 8, and 9 are also eligible for the ACT test. The minimum age requirement for the exams is 13 years.
Both the ACT and SAT exams are required for college admissions and even to get scholarships. Whereas, the SAT exam provides more time per question than the ACT exam. Students with good command in maths and science generally choose to take the ACT exam.
Different students might face unique challenges in different sections of ACT. However, most of the students think science and maths to be the hardest subject in ACT.
The ACT exam is used to measure the high school academic ability of the student for college which will be helpful for the college to compare between the applicants on the same scale. The ACT exam contains four multiple-choice tests: English, mathematics, reading, and science along with an optional writing test.
An ACT score of 14 is generally seen as on the lower side. It is below the national average, and while it might work for some less selective colleges, it could limit your choices at more competitive schools. The national average ACT score is around 19.8. Many selective institutions usually look for scores in the mid-20s or even higher. This means that a 14 could make it tough to get into those institutions. However, some less competitive colleges and community colleges might be more flexible, accepting students with lower scores and placing greater emphasis on other parts of the application.
The table below elaborates on the ACT cost in India.
Particulars | ACT Exam Fees (in USD) | ACT Exam Fees (in INR) |
ACT Exam | $186.5 | INR 15,950 |
ACT with Writing | $211.5 | INR 18,085 |
ACT with Science | $196.5 | INR 16,800 |
ACT Test with Science and Writing | $221.5 | INR 18,940 |
The ACT exam has a maximum score of 36, which is the highest score on the ACT exam that a student can earn. On average, students across the nation score about 19.8. Many colleges, particularly the more competitive ones, typically look for scores in the mid-20s or even higher.
The ACT exam can be challenging because of the time constraints and the wide range of topics it covers. Although the ACT syllabus is generally what high school students are taught. Here are some reasons why the ACT is considered challenging:
75% on your ACT score means you did better than 75% of test takers. This also means that you are in the top 25% of all scores. Generally, a composite score ranging from 23 to 25 on the ACT is considered to be around the 75th percentile.
The ACT test four major skills such as English, math, reading, and science, along with an optional writing test. These sections are created to assess the skills that are important to study abroad at institutions. These skills are generally developed during high school.
The hostels at ACT offer a range of facilities including well-furnished rooms, 24/7 security, high-speed internet, clean and hygienic washrooms, a mess serving nutritious food, laundry services, common rooms, and round-the-clock medical assistance for students.

Hello Priya,
Let us assume two forces F1 and F2.
In the question , there are two conditions given and accordingly we need to solve the equations by forming two equations.
In the first condition, the angle between two forces is 90 degree so apply the formula for the resultant which is =
F1^2 + F2^2 +2F1F2 *cos 90 = 10^2 - - - (i)
In the second condition the equation will come out to be :-
F1^2 + F2^2 + 2 F1F2 cos 60 = (√13)^2 - - - 2
So from the first get the value of F1 in terms of F2 and substitute in the second equation and a quadratic equation will be formed.
