Every year, 14 scholarships are offered to students from across the world. However, candidates must ensure to apply for TOEFL exam scholarship from only one country. Different TOEFL scholarships have different application procedures. So, students must make themselves aware of that before applying.

TOEFL Grants & TOEFL Scholarship Amount

TOEFL scholarship programme in India follows the following eligibility criteria and benefits. TOEFL scholarship for Indian students will be granted based on whether they fulfill the eligibility or not.

1. English-language Researcher/Practitioner Grant Programme

This TOEFL scholarship 2024 helps candidates who are involved in promoting English language learning. This grant program seeks to increase the number of English language teachers.

TOEFL Scholarship Amount: USD 5,000–USD 10,000

2. Grants for Doctoral Research in Second or Foreign Language Assessment

This TOEFL scholarship 2024 offers a limited number of cash awards to students pursuing doctoral degrees and working on foreign or second language assessments.

TOEFL Scholarship Amount: Up to USD 6,000 (payable in U.S. dollars only)

TOEFL Awards

TOEFL awards are awarded to students in the form of TOEFL scholarship 2024 based on the minimum TOEFL score for scholarship. For those who obtain an eligible TOEFL score for scholarship, TOEFL awards provide the recipients with money as well as recognition.

Amount of grant: USD 2,500 (U.S. dollars)

2. Samuel J. Messick Memorial Lecture Award

Amount of grant: USD 2,000 (U.S. dollars)

TOEFL Award (applications reviewed by TESOL as part of the conference proposal process)

3. TOEFL Award for International Participation at TESOL

Amount of grant: Up to 4 grants may be awarded. Each recipient is awarded USD 2,500 to attend and present at TESOL.

Do grantees decide how to use the money from TOEFL scholarship?

Grantees do play a role in deciding how the grant money is used given that the specified research study is completed. Another point is owing to the United States and the European Union sanctions imposed on certain countries, ETS may not be able to make payments to individuals or organisations in these countries.

The list of countries in the sanctioned list is determined by the U.S. and European Union governmental agencies and is subject to change. If the candidate belongs to any one of these countries, such candidates may be notified that their application cannot be considered for a TOEFL scholarship 2024 at this time.

TOEFL fee waiver for international students

There is no TOEFL fee waiver for Indian students. It is only applicable to USA students. Here are the eligibility criteria for TOEFL fee waiver for international students:

1. You must be a non-native speaker English speaker who is college-bound and has financial needs.

2. You must be in your senior year.

3. You must have attended high school in the USA.

4. Your family must be receiving public assistance.

5. You must have secured admission to a program meant for economically disadvantaged students.

6. You must be residing in a federally subsidized public housing project.
