China has emerged as one of the popular destinations to study MBBS due to the availability of several NMC approved medical colleges in China. The National Medical Commission of India also commonly known as NMC, lays out general guidelines for all the international countries and universities offering medical programs to Indian students. These guidelines ensure that a student is eligible to practice medicine in India after completing the MBBS degree abroad. NMC Approved Medical Colleges in China

As the NMC does not endorse any university to study medicine abroad, it only lays down certain guidelines to be followed in order to practice medicine in India. However, the Indian embassy in China has issued an advisory for the students which states that the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China has released an official announcement listing 45 universities in China that are authorized to accept international students. Duration of MBBS at NMC Approved Medical Colleges in China

As per the NMC guidelines, it is mandatory to complete 54 months (4.5 years) of the MBBS course and 12 months of internships in order to practice in India. China has a five-year undergraduate program in clinical medicine, followed by a one-year internship. However, the duration can vary from one university to another, so it is a good idea to research well before applying.

According to the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, medical courses are taught in English. However, if you want to participate in clinical sessions, learning Chinese is a must. Every student is required to reach at least the HSK-4 level in Chinese. If you do not meet this language requirement, you will not be able to graduate.

The NMC regulations from November 18, 2021, state that any student looking to pursue medical education abroad must have a valid license to practice in the country where they graduated.
