Minimizing the duration of the graduate route visa: Earlier, for bachelors and master’s, the duration of the graduate route visa was 2 years, while it was 3 years for PhDs. It allows students to live, work and stay in the UK after completing their studies, but now it has been reduced to 18 months for all study levels.
Maximizing English language proficiency requirements: This requirement will be increased for all the visa routes, even for the dependents.
Longer settlement period: The time to obtain settled status will be increased from 5 to 10 years.
Dependents: Only those international students enrolled in PhD or research-based are allowed to bring dependents with them to the UK.
Financial requirements: The living cost requirements has increased to £1,334/month in London from £1,023/month.

It is mandatory to meet the following eligibility criteria if you want to apply for UK student visa from India:
Unconditional offer from a UK university that is licensed to sponsor students.
Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from your university.
Demonstrate proficiency in English language by submitting test scores of IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE.

Following are the steps that you need to follow to apply for UK student visa:
Step 1: First, select the university that you want to apply to. Once your application is approved, you will receive the admission letter. Accept it and receive a CAS.
Step 2: Gather all the mandatory documents, and ensure everything is in the right format and certified, as required.
Step 3: Visit the official website of the UK government and upload the documents while filling the online visa application form.
Step 4: The next step is to make all the payments–the UK visa application fee and health surcharge.
Step 5: Schedule the biometric appointment as per your availability and visit the nearest VFS UK visa application center India to submit the required biometrics, passports and documents.
Step 6: Next, you need to track the visa application online with the help of your VFS reference number.
Step 7: Wait for the visa application process. It generally takes around 15 working days but if you can opt for priority or super-priority services by paying additional costs.
These are the mandatory documents required for UK student visa to apply for a study visa in the UK:
A valid passport
CAS letter from the university that has accepted your university application
Bank statements or education loans (financial proof)
English proficiency test scores
All the mark sheets, degrees, and diploma certificates relevant to your study course
TB Test certificate
Visa application form (filled on the portal of UKVI)
