The Heriot Watt University is one of the oldest public institutions from United Kingdom and the first foreign university to be set up in Dubai international Academic City. One of the top civil engineering colleges in Dubai, the university offers civil engineering both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At the undergraduate level, it offers Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in civil engineering and at the PG level, it offers both MSc and diploma in Civil Engineering and Construction Management. According to the university, the programme is the first and only civil engineering programme in the Gulf region to be accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) and the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE).The PG programme is one year full-time and 2 years part-time while the UG course can be completed in 4 years.
For undergraduation, students are considered on the basis of their previous academic records and even SAT score. SAT score should be at least 1500. Candidates are required to furnish IELTS score of at least 6.0 as proof of English proficiency.
A first or second class in a related discipline is required to be eligible for the postgraduate programme. For the Diploma programme, a third class Honours degree in a related discipline is required.
