The Commonwealth Scholarship is among the highly regarded need-based scholarships offered to talented students in low and middle-income Commonwealth countries. The main aim of the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission (the official body that offers Commonwealth scholarships) in India is to provide higher education in the UK, New Zealand, and Singapore to financially weak students.

The awards are generally funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). Moreover, almost all Commonwealth scholarships 2025 are fully funded with a few partial ones covering university fees, travel, and accommodation fees, etc.

To be eligible, students must be enrolled in at least master-level courses in the UK, be below 40 years of age, not be financially strong enough to study in the UK/New Zealand/Singapore, and must hold an admission letter from the university. However, these Commonwealth Scholarship and fellowship requirements may vary depending on the country as well as the type of award.
