Holland Scholarship is now known as NL Scholarship. It is a partially funded government scholarship for international students from non-EEA countries seeking higher education in the Netherlands. This scheme is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science as well as several Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences. This grant is awarded to around 2,112 students per academic year by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
Students planning to do a master's or bachelor’s in Netherlands can apply for NL scholarships. Recipients of Holland Scholarships generally receive a minimum of EUR 5,000 in the first year of their studies. Hence, it is not a full tuition waiver scholarship; it is intended to motivate academically excellent international students to study in the Netherlands. Applicants must have applied for a full-time bachelor’s or master's course at a participating university in Netherlands.
Candidates must be nationals of non-EEA countries.
They must meet the specific requirements of the selected university. This may include interview screenings and entrance exams such as the SAT or ACT for undergraduates and the GRE or GMAT for graduates.
Applicants must not have studied at an educational institution in the Netherlands before applying for a Holland scholarship.
As per the Holland Scholarship eligibility criteria, international students are required to submit a document set to be considered. These documents are mentioned below:
A valid passport
Letter of motivation
English test results (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge)
Finance support document (demonstrating that one can cover the costs except those that are covered by the Holland Scholarships)

Candidates for the Holland scholarship are individually selected based on their academic records and financial requirements. The selection process for the scholarship includes several parameters such as academic transcripts, other merit-based achievements, and motivation letters and stages. These are as follows:
The Holland Scholarship selection panel reviews the nominated applications received by the selected university and shortlists a few of the eligible candidates.
The selected candidates as per the selection committee are intimidated about their acceptance for the scholarship.
The grant award is then transferred to the candidate’s bank account in the Netherlands once the student is in the country.

The Holland Scholarships 2025 is not a fully funded scholarship. Hence, the scholarship is offered to cover the full or partial tuition fees for the first year of your intended course of study. Students are awarded a minimum of EUR 5,000 against the scholarship; however, they can be awarded more than that as well depending upon the institution.

Maastricht University Holland Grant: EUR 30,000 including tuition fee waiver and monthly stipend each year for the full course.
One can get a fully funded scholarship in Netherlands easily if they meet the requirements for the scholarship they are intended to go for. For say, international students must be from a non-EEA country, do not hold a degree before applying in the Netherlands, and be academically excellent to be eligible for Holland Scholarships.
The selection committee of the Holland scholarships are highly selective and only shortlists students with high GPA records. Hence, one must aim for higher GPAs. Generally, the Holland scholarship GPA requirement is a minimum of 7.5 out of 10 scale.
