The Visa application process is crucial for those seeking to pursue higher education in Ukraine. In recent years, Ukraine has become widely recognized as a top destination for students looking to study abroad. Among the various courses available, MBBS in Ukraine stands out as a popular choice among students. With approximately 800 institutions providing higher education, Ukraine has emerged as a global hub for international students.
Prospective medical or dental students planning to pursue their studies in Ukraine must obtain a type D long-stay visa. This Ukraine study visa permits them to remain in the country for a duration exceeding 90 days. To secure a long-stay Ukraine study visa, individuals must meet the following criteria: they are citizens of countries that mandate a visa for entry, or they belong to nations that have established agreements allowing visa-free stays of up to 90 days (for purposes such as tourism, personal visits, or business) in Ukraine.
Studying in Ukraine offers numerous advantages, some of which are highlighted below:
Top-notch Education: Ukrainian degrees hold international recognition, making them valid and respected worldwide. Ukrainian universities are renowned for providing high-quality education that equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Affordable Tuition and Living Costs: Ukraine stands out as a cost-effective option for education and living expenses when compared to other European countries.
No Entrance Exams: Ukraine's popularity as a study destination is further enhanced by the fact that students are not required to take any entrance exams.
No New Language Required: With 90% of courses being offered in English, there is no need to learn a new language to study in Ukraine.
In order to be eligible for a Ukraine study visa, applicants must meet certain criteria. These include:
The applicant must be at least 17 years old by December 31st of the year of admission.
The applicant should have scored a minimum of 50% in previous exams (or 40% for reserved categories).
The applicant should have studied English as a compulsory subject.
The applicant should possess the university's admission letter along with all necessary documents for the visa application.
In order to acquire a long-stay Ukraine study visa (type D), an aspiring student must provide a set of documents to the consulate or embassy of Ukraine in their home country. The complete list of embassy locations and contact information can be found on the website of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
When submitting your documents, it is essential to include the original Invitation Letter regardless of the submission location. It is to be noted that documents from previous education must be officially certified before being submitted to the consulate. This can be achieved through either legalization by the Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Embassy of Ukraine in an applicant’s home country, or certification by Apostille stamp and legalization at the Embassy of Ukraine in an applicant’s home country. It is imperative that these documents are officially recognized in Ukraine for a Ukrainian university to issue the diploma certificate upon graduation.
Universities must register all study invitations with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine before giving them to applicants. Once the registration process is over, the Ministry gives official confirmation (visa support) to the Consulate of Ukraine in different countries. Without this registration, Consulates cannot accept documents from international students or issue Ukraine student visas.
Upon reception of an invitation letter, the student must reach out to the Ukrainian embassy in their respective country to initiate the Ukraine student visa application process.
Most Ukrainian embassies usually receive and process Ukraine study visa applications throughout the year. However, in certain countries, visa applications are accepted and visas are issued from 15th July to 15th November. In such cases, extensions are granted for the preparatory course until November or December.
The documents required for Ukraine study visa applications are as follows:
Completed visa application form
International passport with a validity of at least one year
Original invitation letter from the selected college/university
Birth certificate translated into Ukrainian
Original School Certificates translated into Ukrainian
Medical Certificate issued no more than one month prior to the visa application and translated into Ukrainian. It should also be approved by the Ministry of Health in the student's home country.
A Ukrainian translation of an HIV-AIDS-negative certificate issued no more than a month prior to the visa application.
Open return air ticket with one-year validity
10 passport-size photographs with a white background
Bank statement of the applicant with a balance of a minimum of INR 4 lacs.
Bank statements of parents for the previous six months.
It is crucial for students who are applying for a Ukraine Study Visa to exercise caution when submitting their documents, as any errors could result in the cancellation of their Ukraine visa. The fees for Ukraine study visas are non-refundable. The cost of a Ukraine student visa is 176 USD (INR 13,196) or 53,680 Naira (INR 9,790). It is important to note that this fee is non-refundable, even if an application for a long-term visa is not approved.
The Ukraine study visa processing period usually takes around 10 days. If a candidate is in a hurry, he/she can choose the expedited processing option. It can result in the visa being issued within 5 working days, although at a higher fee. Nevertheless, the Ukraine study visa processing time may vary depending on the embassy or consulate where a candidate submits his/her application, and in certain instances, it may take longer. Hence, it is recommended to apply for the visa between 10-90 days prior to the intended travel date.
