Top Universities for Engineering Management: Keeping in mind the added advantage of management expertise in terms of job profile and salary structure, we can say that Master of Engineering Management would be the best postgraduate study option for any engineering student.
Master of Engineering Management or MEM is a programme that amalgamates business and management expertise with engineering principles to meet the growing industry demand for managerially-skilled engineers. Also known as the Engineer’s MBA, MEM is a course tailor made for engineers aspiring to grab a management level position in industry and draw a handsome salary package.
A majority of engineers willing to shift to management opt for full time Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) programme to hone their managerial skills and for a significant jump in their salary. However, students, who do not want to completely shift from their technical fields, can go for MEM as this programme can help them master all the management acumen while keeping up with the technical aspects of the engineering domain. One point where MEM has an edge over MBA is the qualifying test score required. MEM accepts both GRE and GMAT scores while most MBA programmes consider only GMAT score; this means students can get admission in MEM through any of these tests. So, all the management aspirants from engineering background should decide carefully over ‘MBA or MEM’ before proceeding for the next stage of their educational journey.
Now, the question is where to pursue MEM from? What are the top universities for Engineering Management or MEM? According to the Master of Engineering Management Programs Consortium (MEMPC), there are seven best universities in the US to study engineering management which are:
