  • Candidates must create an account on Etudes En France and use the created account to apply to prospective French institutions of study.

  • Through the Etudes En France account, applicants will be able to apply to various universities and track their admission status.

  • Upon admittance to a specfic program at any French institution, candidates can then apply for a student visa for France online.

  • Candidates will be required to download their Etudes En France certificate as it is one of the required supporting documents for a student visa for France.

  • Upon online application form submisssion for the French student visa, candidates can arrange an appointment with the visa application centre.

  • On the date of appointment with the visa application centre, the candidate is required to bring all supporting documents along with the passport and ID page copies.

  • The candidate must provide biometric data and pay the student visa application fee in order for the application process to be considered complete.

  • Candidates can track the status of their French student visa application and will be notified when their passport can be collected from the appointment centre.

Student Visa for France: Student Visa Checklist

In addition to the French student visa application form, candidates are also required to submit various supporting documents in order for their visa application to be complete and be eligible for processing. The supporting documents required for a student visa for France include:

  • A valid passport issued from the country of visa application form submission.

  • A dated and signed student visa application form.

  • The candidate’s ID photograph.

  • Requisite travel documents with a validity of at least 3 months succeeding the date of return.

  • A completely filled OFII form with the candidate’s details.

  • Accommodation proof for the first 3 months of the candidate’s education in France.

  • A bank certificate or scholarship certificate attesting to deposits of at least €615 per month to support the candidate for his or her duration of study in France.

Documents submitted in languages other than French or English must be translated into French upon submission.


Student Visa for France: Student Visa Processing Time

Candidates should apply for a student visa for France well before the time of departure for education in France. The minimum time prior to date of departure for application submission varies with the type of visa application:

  1. Short Stay Visa: The period of issue of short-stay visas is 78 hours in most cities in India and for Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta and Pondicherry it is 48 hours on average.

    For candidates in Kathmandu, the visa application form should be submitted at least 15 days prior to the prospective date of departure for study in France.

  1. Long Stay Visa: For long-stay visa applications, candidates should apply at least a month prior to the date of departure for study in France.

Student Visa for France: Student Visa Fees

The application fee for a student visa for France is €99. This fee is to be paid in local currency or INR according to the rate of exchange at the date of application submission. The application fee is non-refundable in case of rejection or withdrawal of the French student visa.

The application fee for a French student visa will be exempt if the candidate is the spouse of a French national.
