All educational institutions in India grade students on 10-point CGPAs and they grant the score on the student’s report card. So, why do they convert CGPA into marks? Marks play an important role at the time of college admission after 12th. Note: GPA is different from CGPA as GPA measures a student’s performance on 4 point scale whereas CGPA measures on 10 point scale.
Students can find out their overall 10 CGPA with the help of grades from each subject. All they need to do is add the grade achieved in all subjects (Sub1 grade+Sub2 grade+ Sub3 grade+....) and then divide the sum of grades by the number of subjects. Marks are the raw scores achieved by a student. It can be either for all the subjects as the total marks or in each subject. So, why does CGPA convert to marks? This is because marks are crucial for passing courses and advancing to the next level of education, securing competitive scholarships, and for great career opportunities. High marks often result in a student’s success for a course/award/job. Generally, marks are simply determined by adding the marks in each subject out of the total.

Students can find out the total marks they achieved in their studies by the following formula:
Find out your CGPA
Now, they should multiply the CGPA by 9.5 (this is also known as the percentage)
Divide the outcome by 100.
Multiply it with the total marks of all subjects.
Now, the result is the total marks of the student.
Formula: ((CGPA*9.5)/100)*total marks

Here, we have given the marks for different CGPAs of different students:
9*9.5= 85.5%
5%/100 =0.855
0.855*500 = 427.5

One can convert their CGPA into marks by multiplying the cumulative grade by 9.5 and then dividing by 100. Then multiply the outcome obtained with the total marks.
A 7.4 CGPA in marks is approximately 351.5 out of 500. The formula used here is ((7.4*9.5)/100)*500.
A 9.4 CGPA in marks is approximately 446.5 out of 500. The formula used here is ((9.4*9.5)/100)*500.
To convert 8.7 CGPA to marks, students can first multiply 8.7 by 9.5. Then divide the outcome which is 82.65 with 100. Now, they will get 0.8265. Now, they can multiply this by 500 to obtain marks. Here, the total marks are 413.25.
A 7.6 CGPA in percentage is approximately 72.2%. One can convert CGPA into percentages by multiplying the cumulative grades by 9.5.
