To boost Australia’s economy and labor force new permanent migration program has been introduced. Under this, there are 1,85,000 places which are divided as follows:
Skill Stream: 132,200 places
Family Stream: 52,500 places

Increased Proof of Funds
Those applying for the Australian student visa are required to provide a proof of funds of a minimum of AUD 29,710. These funds showcase the applicant’s ability to afford the first year’s tuition fees and the airfare charges.
New Visa Initiatives
The Australian government has launched new visa initiatives. These are as follows:
National Innovation Visa: This visa is for investors, researchers, and entrepreneurs.
India-Australia Agreement: This is an agreement between India and Australia that has permitted indian graduates in Australia to work for up to 8 years in the country without sponsorship.
Post-Study Work Rights: The rights state that international graduates can work for 2 years after completing their studies.
Increased International Student Cap
From 2025, Australia will accept a maximum of 2,95,000 international students. Earlier, the maximum limit was 2,70,000. This will largely affect the Indian student community, as it is the second largest in Australia. This has opened up more opportunities for aspiring students aiming to study in Australia.
New English Language Tests
Apart from the regular acceptable English language tests for the Australian visa such as IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, etc., more exams are being accepted. However, none of the online exams are acceptable. These include:

Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold
To ensure that the skilled migrants in Australia are not underpaid. The Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) will increase from $73,150 to $76,515. However, new applications must meet the higher threshold or the Annual Market Salary Rate.
