Every year more than 1 lakh students apply for the GRE test in India. The GRE exam is of 2 types one is the general test and the other is the subject test. GRE exam online is conducted throughout the year on all 7 days of the week. ETS GRE provides the facility to book the GRE exam dates 2024 in India even before two calendar days. Candidates can book their GRE test dates 2024-25 at their convenience by choosing their nearest or preferred location of the test centres. However, early booking of the graduate record examination dates is suggested for booking the slot in the nearest available test centre. For the GRE 2024 general test candidates can take the test every 21 days up to five (5) times in a year.

The GRE subject tests are only available three (3) times a year in September, October, and April at computer-delivered centres worldwide. The candidate can take a GRE 2024 subject test once every 14 days. GRE 2024 Subject Test will now be available in September, the test dates are mentioned below:

GRE 2024 Eligibility Criteria

There are no specific criteria for the GRE exam eligibility. Anyone who is planning to study a graduate course can apply for the GRE test 2024. However, the candidate must check the course and college eligibility criteria for which they are interested in applying.

• Any undergraduate degree.

Steps for GRE Application Form 2024: For both GRE general & Subject Test -

Step 1: Visit the official website of ETS at www.ets.org

Step 2: Create an account on the ETS website.

GRE 2024 Exam Fee Reduction Program

Candidates who are low in financial status, unemployed, and students who work with national programs for underrated groups are eligible for the GRE fee reduction vouchers.

Eligibility: Must be a citizen of the US or resident alien.

The candidate can fill out the GRE fee reduction request form and submit the necessary documents as instructed in the form. The voucher will be sent in the mail within 2 weeks.

GRE 2024 Exam Transfer and Cancellation Details

Kindly, have a look over the transfer and cancellation details before the registration process for general awareness and benefit of the candidate. The process can be done online by directly logging into the account using the ID and password on the ETS website created during the registration process.

• Reschedule the GRE 2024 Test Dates

Any candidate can reschedule the GRE test date 4 days from the test date. A minimum fee is required to be paid For candidates in Mainland China the rescheduling facility is applicable only 10 days before the exam date.

• Cancellation of the GRE 2024 Test

Any candidate cancels the registration before 4 days from the test date a half amount of refund will be provided where the other amount is considered into cancellation charges. For candidates in Mainland China, the cancellation facility is applicable only 10 days from the exam date.

The GRE exam for the GRE general test and GRE Subject test are available online and can be attended at the approved GRE exam centres in India. Due to the impact of COVID-19, the centres are operated in a limited number. So here the candidates are advised to check the availability of the GRE 2024 test centres near their location and kindly apply at the earliest to book their preferred slot in the test centre as they are served on a first come - first served basis. To book the nearest or preferred GRE test centre, the test booking should be done as soon as the registrations are opened.

The GRE 2024 admit Card or GRE hall ticket is the mail confirmation received after finishing the registration process. GRE 2024 Syllabus: General Test

The GRE syllabus 2024 focuses on candidate's thinking which will be required in graduate, business, and law schools. The skills measured here aren’t from a specific field but are important for everyone.

This GRE 2024 general test consists of three (3) sections:

1. Verbal Reasoning

This section mostly involves questions related to passage reading, sentence completion & equivalence.

Reading Comprehension: Consists of passages that are in MCQs (Multiple-choice — Select One Answer Choice). These passages in these types of questions, measure the abilities in reading and understanding. These passages are the topics that are usually encountered by graduate students in academic settings. Those abilities include -

• Understanding meanings and relations of words, sentences, and paragraphs.

• Distinguish between minor and major points, infer the missing information

• Passage summary and drawing conclusions.

• Identify the author's assumptions and understand the perspective.

• Identify the strengths and weaknesses of a given position.

Text Completion: The abilities like interpretation, evaluation, and reasoning are tested by omitting the crucial words in the short passage that are to be filled.

Sentence Equivalence: Consists of a single sentence with just one blank, where the candidate needs to identify the two choices that lead to complete, coherent sentences with similar meanings.

2. Quantitative Reasoning

The quant section Of GRE 2024 comprises basic & elementary mathematical skills, concepts, and the ability to reason quantitatively and solve problems with quantitative methods. In the exam, there will be two subsections and each sub-section will contain 20 questions based on arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis. The GRE exam duration 2024 for each subsection is 35 minutes.

GRE 2024 Quantitative reasoning will have four types of questions. These are: -

• Quantitative comparison questions- Candidates need to draw a comparison between two quantities and find out which statement best describes the comparison.

• Multiple choice questions (select one answer choice)- Select one correct answer from the five given choices.

• Multiple choice questions (select one or more answer choices)- Select more than one correct answer from the given choices. No marks will be given for partially correct answers.

• Numeric entry- candidates have to calculate and write the answers. These questions will not have any options given.

3. Analytical Writing

The section assesses the critical thinking and analytical writing skills of the candidate. Candidates can read feature articles, journals, essays, and editorials on general interest topics. The section will have two separately timed analytical writing tasks of 30 minutes each.

The two tasks are the following: -

GRE Syllabus 2024: Subject Test

The GRE 2024 subject test judges a candidate’s knowledge in a specific field of academic study. These subject tests are emphasized by undergraduate programs. Candidates must note that not every graduate program asks for a Subject Test, so one needs to ensure that the program he/she has chosen requires taking the desired Subject Test of the GRE. All the scores for the GRE subject test is within the score scale 200-990 in 10-point increments. For physics and psychology, there are subscores on 20-99 score scale in one (1) point increment.

GRE 2024 Mathematics Test

The questions for these tests are commonly from undergraduate courses. The course areas are -

Calculus - Differential and integral calculus, coordinate geometry, trigonometry, differential equations, and other concepts of mathematics.

Algebra - Algebraic techniques, linear algebra, abstract algebra, and number theory.

Additional Topics - Introduction to Real analysis, discrete mathematics, and other topics like probability and statistics, general topology, etc.

GRE 2024 Physics Test

There are three subscores along with a total score for the topics Classical Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Quantum Mechanics, and Atomic Physics. The content for the exam is classical mechanics, electromagnetism, optics and wave phenomena, thermodynamics, and statistical mechanics, quantum mechanics, atomic physics, special relativity, laboratory methods, specialized topics, etc.

GRE 2024 Psychology Test

There are six subscores along with a total score for the topics biological, cognitive, social, developmental, clinical, measurement, methodology, etc.

Consider the following guidelines for attending the GRE exam 2024 at the test centre:

• Things to be carried for the GRE 2024 exam centre: Passport, Aadhar Card, pen, pencil, water bottle.

• Attend the test centre 30 minutes before the given time.

GRE 2024 Results

The official GRE score report consists of details like name, DOB, intended graduate major, exam date(s), GRE test score(s) and associated percentile ranks, authorized score recipients, etc. The validity of the official GRE Score Report is up to 5 years from the date of the exam.

GRE 2024 General Test Scores

The GRE results for the general test type will be released after 8 to 10 days from the test date. This will be notified to the candidate through an email notification when the results are released. Once the candidate's official GRE scores are released they will be sent to their score recipients which were chosen on the GRE test date in the official institution score report format.

GRE 2024 Subject Test Scores

The results of the subject test will be released after 5 weeks from the GRE test dates 2024. The dates for the online results availability and mailing dates to the selected score recipients i.e., selected colleges will be published on the ETS website. This will be notified to the candidate through an email notification when the results are released.
