GRE Exam Eligibility 2025
The ETS which is the exam conducting authority has not specified any GRE eligibility criteria. So candidates irrespective of their education, age, nationality, or race can take the GRE 2025. The only requirement to meet the GRE 2025 eligibility is a passport which is the only required document to register for the test. Check the general GRE exam eligibility mentioned below.
Age limit: No age limit is specified.
Education qualification: There is no specific education qualification but students who are expecting to pursue a graduate course can take the GRE.
ID proof: Indian test takers need to submit a passport copy to register for the GRE test.
GRE 2025 Registration
International students can register for the GRE 2025 exam either online or offline. For Indian students, the GRE registration is possible only via online. GRE Exam Pattern 2025
The GRE 2025 exam is a computer-delivered test that can be taken at a test centre or at home. The GRE General test duration is only 2 hours. The general version of the GRE exam pattern follows section-level adaptation where the question difficulty level in section 2 depends on the candidate's performance in section 1 of each measure. The GRE question paper includes three sections: verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing.

GRE General Test Syllabus 2025
The test reflects the thinking required for the present-day graduate, law and business school programs. The syllabus assesses the candidates in 3 skill areas: analytical writing, verbal reasoning, and quantitative reasoning.
GRE Verbal Reasoning: Verbal reasoning consists of question types like reading comprehension, text completion, and sentence equivalence. The texts in this section are drawn from both academic and non-academic backgrounds like history, everyday topics, business, science, etc, and more.
GRE Quantitative Reasoning: This section assesses the basic mathematic concepts, skills, and the candidate's ability to solve the problem quantitatively. The content areas like arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data analysis, etc are included. Most of the topics are high school-level algebra and introductory statistics.
GRE Analytical Writing: There is only one task “Analyze an Issue” in this section. Here the test taker needs to evaluate the issue and develop an argument by specifying reasons and examples. This writing task assesses your critical thinking skills and analytical writing skills.

Dear Student,
For admittance to premier universities like MIT, Harvard, Stanford, UC Berkeley, and CMU, your resume must be exceptionally strong.
- GRE - on the safe side, 325+
- GPA of at least 110 and a TOEFL score of at least 110.
- Do as many articles as you can, attempt to participate in research activities at your college, and if at all feasible, try to obtain patents.
- Internships: I firmly feel that internships are important. Utilize your vacation time for internships, and attempt to concentrate on professions that are research-based or pure CS.
- Extracurricular Activities: Present Papers, Participate in GSOC and Other Coding Events, etc.
- Do two or more projects during your undergraduate studies, preferably ones that are linked to your field of study.
- Work Experience - This is an optional consideration, but if you spend a few years in a top product company's R&D, it might be worthwhile.
- Put a lot of time and work crafting your SOP and make sure it accurately expresses your reasons for obtaining an MS in Computer Science.
- Get letters of recommendation from top management at your job and from research faculty at your college—they must know you!
Even if you address all of the aforementioned criteria, there is no assurance that you will be admitted to one of the universities you have named. When you make a decision, a combination of all these criteria will be taken into account, but these 10 ideas are a fantastic place to start.
I know someone who received acceptance letters from MIT, UC Berkeley, and Carnegie Mellon University for their MS and PhD programmes after scoring between 1400 and 1600 on the GRE. He applied with an excellent resume that included a 9+ GPA throughout college, two years of research in Microsoft R&D, and a few patents. Therefore, what matters is your whole profile.
