GRE Exam Fees India: As per the GRE conducting body ETS, fees for taking the exam are Rs 22,550 for the GRE general test and Rs 14,500 for the GRE Subject test. As a part of registration, students are required to pay the GRE exam fee in India to appear for either type of GRE test. Also, the GRE 2025 test fees vary depending on the country of the test centre. We have given the GRE Exam fee in Indian rupees which is Rs 22,550 (General) and Rs 14,500 (Subject) for the relevant type of test module. However, it is USD 220 for General and USD 150 for General and subjective tests respectively as official GRE test fees for international students from all over the world except for China.

For Indian test takers, the GRE exam fee in India is Rs. 22,550 for the GRE general test that is conducted throughout the year. On the other hand the GRE exam fee is Rs. 14,500 for the GRE Subject test as discussed above. This GRE exam fee 2025 is updated on 1 August 2024, inclusive of VAT registration tax of Rs. 3440. Except in China where it is USD 231.30, the GRE cost in the world is USD 220. Candidates can pay the GRE application fee at the time of GRE registration.

GRE Exam Fee in India
There are two types of GRE tests and their costs are different. The GRE General test is attempted for general graduation purposes whereas the GRE subject test is attempted for students who would like to study specialized courses or hold a strong background in a particular subject. As per ETS website, GRE Exam Fees in India is Rs 22,550 for General tests and Rs 14,500 for Subject tests.
These two tests differ in GRE syllabus, GRE pattern, and GRE registration fee but the GRE special handling request fees remain the same for both test types. How much is GRE exam fee in India? The details of the GRE fees in India are provided below.

How to Pay for GRE Exam Fee 2025?
Candidates paying the GRE fees in India can use the following payment modes for online payment. For applicants making payments the DCC Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) option is available which allows the user to pay the GRE exam fees in INR from home currency instead of foreign currency.

Terms and Conditions for GRE Registration Fee Payment
The GRE exam fee must be paid at the end of exam registration. Here are a few terms that are to be considered while paying the fees for GRE exam in India.
The payment of the GRE fee in India mode can be online or other modes apart from cash.
Payment must be made completely to avail of any product or service.
No service or product is provided in the event of non-payment of the fee due.
Users are required to complete all the outstanding payments to get registered for any further ETS service.
Indian applicants registering online can pay the GRE exam fee in INR.
During the payment of the GRE exam fee 2025, applicants can be asked to verify their card-holder identity by entering the one-time password (OTP) or the authentication code. Failure to enter these details can lead to sale rejection. If the applicant does not know their 3D-secure passcode/password or received their OTP, they need to contact their respective bank or respective institution.
The ETS reserves the right to add or remove the GRE exam fee payment options or any other service payment options at its own discretion without any notice to the users.
GRE Fee 2025 for Rescheduling and Cancellation
Candidates can reschedule or cancel the GRE test, 4 days before the GRE exam date through their ETS account. Failing this deadline will lead to a zero refund of the GRE test fee. Candidates who have cancelled priorly would get a refund of 50% of the GRE fee. Here are a few other special GRE fees in India for special handling services listed below.

Refund Policies for GRE Exam Cancellation
Here are the exam refund policies to be known by the candidate in case of cancellation of the GRE exam.
- The refund processing is subject to the tax if applicable.
- Failing to follow the proper exam registration process will not result in any refund of the GRE exam fee in India.
- Candidates who paid the exam fee through a debit or credit card will get their refund within 15 business days after the cancellation.
- The refund is only limited to the exam fee but not for the products or services offered by the ETS

When the GRE results are released, candidates can send their scores to GRE-accepting universities for admission purposes. This score reporting fee is included in the GRE exam fee itself. Students can send their scores to up to 4 universities.
In case the candidates wish to send to additional universities they can order for additional sore reports (ASR’s) at a fee of USD 35 for each. If the candidate is not satisfied with the GRE exam total marks and would like to reinstate them, then the score reinstatement fee is USD 50.

GRE 2025 Exam Fee for Home Edition
The GRE at-home version allows candidates to attempt the test from the comfort of their homes. How much is GRE exam fee in India for the home edition? The exam cost in India for the GRE home edition is Rs 22,550 which is the same as the GRE General test version. Whether the testing is at home or test centre, there is no difference in the GRE exam fees 2025. All the other additional special handling requests are also the same for the GRE home edition and the General test.
2025 GRE Exam Fee Waiver for Indian Students
Unfortunately, the Educational Testing Service (ETS), which administers the GRE exam, does not currently provide a special fee waiver for international students, including those from India. The GRE Fee Reduction Programme is open to US citizens and permanent residents experiencing financial difficulties.
However, a GRE Fee Reduction Voucher can be used for either one GRE General Test or one GRE Subject Test. Individuals who get a GRE Fee Reduction voucher will be charged USD 100 to register for the GRE General Test, or 50% of the usual test fee for a GRE Subject Test. For admittance to premier universities like MIT, Harvard, Stanford, UC Berkeley, and CMU, your resume must be exceptionally strong.
- GRE - on the safe side, 325+
- GPA of at least 110 and a TOEFL score of at least 110.
- Do as many articles as you can, attempt to participate in research activities at your college, and if at all feasible, try to obtain patents.
- Internships: I firmly feel that internships are important. Utilize your vacation time for internships, and attempt to concentrate on professions that are research-based or pure CS.
- Extracurricular Activities: Present Papers, Participate in GSOC and Other Coding Events, etc.
- Do two or more projects during your undergraduate studies, preferably ones that are linked to your field of study.
- Work Experience - This is an optional consideration, but if you spend a few years in a top product company's R&D, it might be worthwhile.
- Put a lot of time and work crafting your SOP and make sure it accurately expresses your reasons for obtaining an MS in Computer Science.
- Get letters of recommendation from top management at your job and from research faculty at your college—they must know you!
Even if you address all of the aforementioned criteria, there is no assurance that you will be admitted to one of the universities you have named. When you make a decision, a combination of all these criteria will be taken into account, but these 10 ideas are a fantastic place to start.
