How to Utilise This 2-Month GMAT Study Plan

The 2 months that you have at hand should be utilised smartly and strategically so that you excel on the exam day. Like the plan prepared above, the same can be used for the initial 2-3 days so that you are in a position to have a clear picture of the details you need to acquire under each concept that needs to be revised. For example, if a student feels that English grammar is weak, then what concepts in the grammar section that need to be grasped should be the main focus.

1) Tracking Your Progress

While you have to undertake the GMAT preparation in 2 months, you should regularly check the progress you have made in terms of concept clarity and time management for each question. Make a separate journal where you note the progress you have made in the entire day. This kind of diligent and strict practice under timed conditions will fulfil your dream of scoring high.

2) Adjusting Your Study Plan as Needed

By making a daily note of all the concepts that you have practised and acquired, you will be in a position to change the plan and target the next weaknesses and also take time for the questions that just need practice.

GMAT Study Plan 2 Months

Week 1: Understanding the Exam Pattern and Devising the Strategies

In week 1 of GMAT preparation in 2 months, the initial time goes into accurate analyses of the exam pattern, concepts assessed, and understanding the way to manage time for each question and each specific section.

  • Analysing Previous GMAT Papers

In week 1 of GMAT preparation in 2 months, do not just depend on the result given by the first GMAT mock test that you have attempted. Instead, try to solve more previous years' GMAT exam papers by downloading them from the GMAT club or any other authenticated resource. A suggestive number here will be 4-5 GMAT mock tests so that you can perfectly realise the concept clarity required and the level of time management issues you are facing.

  • Identifying Your Strengths and Weaknesses

Attempting varied mock tests of different difficult levels will give an analysis of your strengths and weaknesses. You should now change your GMAT preparation into a 2-month plan according to the weak areas you have to improve. Give more time to overcome weaknesses and less time to strengthen areas.

Week 2: Brush Up Your Basics/ Focus on Fundamentals

It's week 2 of the GMAT preparation in 2 months, you now know your exact level and the concepts you need to improve to reach your desired score. Start with understanding each concept from scratch in a smart way. You must address your weaknesses to schedule your time accordingly.

  • Reviewing Fundamental Quantitative Concepts

Check out the fundamental quantitative concepts that you still need to understand. Starting from number lines, factors, exponents, percentages, algebraic expressions, equations, and probability. Give more time to the concepts that you are weak in, and just revise the clear concepts. You must apply the elimination technique effectively for preparation. This GMAT preparation expert tip will help you overcome all your weaknesses by the end of week 2 of GMAT preparation in 2 months.

  • Strengthening Verbal Skills

The best GMAT verbal preparation tips are understanding the way questions should be attempted.

  1. Check out the traps that are given in the wrong statement. (You will be able to do this if you have reviewed the mistakes you have made in the GMAT mock tests attempted in week 1)

  2. Make a separate book for enriching vocabulary, and note down all the new words and the way they are used as synonyms, antonyms, and different sentence structures.

  3. Work on using the elimination method by analysing the traps that are used in the wrong options.

Week 3: Data Sufficiency and Reading Comprehension

Now that you have acquired all the fundamental concepts and you are confident in using and applying them, let us start to master the different sections of the GMAT exam.

  • Mastering Data Sufficiency Techniques

The best ways to master the Data Insights after understanding the question are:

  1. Developing analytical skills to interpret the data and synthesise information to draw conclusions.

  2. Improve logical reasoning skills and also focus on the different relationships the data highlights.

  • Improving Reading Comprehension Skills

Some of the best ways to improve reading comprehension skills for GMAT preparation in 2 months are as follows:

  1. Practice skimming and scanning techniques.

  2. Practice identifying the main context, purpose, and logical reasons the passage suggests.

  3. Practice under timed conditions.

Week 4: Quant

More than half of the first month of your GMAT preparation in 2 months is complete, and you have almost grasped the concepts related to two sections of the GMAT exam. In the last phase of this month, understand and revise all the concepts that come under the Quant category.

  • Tackling Advanced Quantitative Problems

As the basics and fundamental concepts were clear, now it's time to apply all of them to various practice problems. Always remember that GMAT often follows specific patterns; try recognising them to excel in this section.

  1. Practice regularly from various resources available, both online and offline.

  2. Review the mistakes each time you make and work on overcoming the weaknesses.

  3. Perfect yourself with techniques such as algebraic manipulation, geometry visualisation, and number properties.

  • GMAT Time Management Strategies for the Quant Section

There are various ways to manage time strategically:

  1. Set your time limit for each question. In case you feel you are stuck, make an educated guess and move to the next question.

  2. Prioritise the questions or even the section you wish to attempt first.

  3. Developing mental math skills will also help in saving time.

Weeks 5 and 6: Practice Tests and Revision

After practising all the concepts and attempting the sectional practice questions, you should now be confident in a regular practice test under timed conditions. You must organise test materials.

  • Simulating Real Test Conditions

While attempting the GMAT mock test or practice test, give yourself real exam conditions by attempting the GMAT practice test in a disciplined way under timed conditions. You must schedule your time and take mock tests regularly.

  • Analysing Practice Test Results for Continuous Improvement

This is the most important step in your GMAT preparation in your 2-month journey. You should mandatorily review all the mistakes you have made in your test and work on the strategies to overcome them.

Week 7: Final Revision and Strategy Alignment

Use Week 7 to work on your top issues, go over all the major concepts and fix your strategy depending on your results in practice tests. Prevent burnout by planning your studies in an even and smart way.

Target Weaknesses Identified in Mock Tests

Examine the results of mock tests and make a list showing the same errors you are usually making, including timing, understanding concepts and missing the point of questions. Spend your time on the most important points and try to clarify doubts.

Example: For those who struggled with Sentence Correction, give more time to subjects and verbs in sentences as well as modifiers.

Master Time Allocation per Section

Take this week to work on how fast you run. By using a timer, try to avoid spending more than the times mentioned below:

  • No more than 2 minutes per Quant question

  • It takes about 1.5 to 2 minutes to complete a Verbal question.

  • Work on Integrated Reasoning and AWA within the allotted time.

When facing a question that takes a lot of time, use the “mark and return” method.

Sectional Drills with Accuracy Goals

Every day, test yourself in different sections (Quant, Verbal, AWA and IR) and aim to score at least 80% correctly. It supports your learning and prepares you for the real stress of exams, step by step.

Make sure to do Quant one day and Verbal the next to prevent doing the same type every day.

Start Light Revision of Notes & Error Logs

Look at your summary notes, flashcards and error logs. Using this teaches your brain more and allows you to hold on to facts for a longer time, without annoying exhaustion.

Make sure to put more effort into understanding the trickiest topics and the toughest sections of the GMAT.

Week 8: Final Polishing and Mental Preparation

Week 8 should help you boost your self-esteem, keep your mind attentive and set the right plan for your test day. Try to only cover what you already know and skip the introduction of new content.

Take One Final Full-Length Mock Test

Carry out your last complete GMAT practice test as one of your first practices, at the beginning of the week, with strict time limits. It allows you to review and look over your exam practice questions before the exam actually happens.

Practice: Attempt the test when you would take it in the exam to get used to the timing.

Review Mistakes One Last Time

After trying out the mock examples, only look at the questions you did not get right or that you guessed. Don’t spend too much time learning a new concept; instead, find out why you made a mistake and how to avoid it in future.

Strategy: After going over your mock review, list out 5 key tips to refer to immediately before the exam.

Sleep, Eat, and Think Right

The last period before delivery is very important. Ensure you:

  • Try to have 7–8 hours of sleep each night.

  • Try to schedule your studies well before your exam day.

  • Eat healthy and drink enough fluids.

  • Exercise or meditate for a little while.

Being calm helps your mental well-being. Take time to imagine what success will be like for you. Feeling confident in yourself brings about change.

Exam Day Readiness

  • Make sure your admit card, ID and your allowed things are with you.

  • Confirm where your test centre is located.

  • Make sure your evening routine is simple before the test.

  • For the exam, enjoy a healthy meal with plenty of energy and get there early.

Don’t forget that your 8-week planning is trustworthy. Keep calm and follow a logical order when doing your tasks.
