It was established as Constantine Technical College in 1930, and finally got University status in 1992. The library offers access to a number of print and online resources for study, and flexible learning spaces across five floors of it. Students can access the library’s Discovery catalogue, e-books, journal finder, subject LibGuides, reading lists and more. The library remains open 24/7 and offers help to students from the professional team both on campus and off campus.
The University Wi-Fi network (Eduroam) is available throughout campus. Members of participating UK higher education institutions can use the Eduroam wireless network to access services at other institutions by authenticating there.
Typically, visitors can use their own wireless devices to connect to Eduroam facilities utilizing a wireless connection. Users may also be able to access this service over a wired connection at some locations, however, Teesside does not offer this option.
Teesside University offers a variety of sports facilities for both amateur and expert competitors. The Olympia Sports Complex has a big sports hall, gym, free weights area, Technogym cardio machines, indoor track, squash courts, climbing and bouldering wall, sauna, male and female changing rooms, shower and sauna facilities, floodlit 3G pitch, and more. It is located on campus. There are various ways to get to the University, and the University actively encourages its employees to use public transportation such as buses, trains, and bicycles through a range of employee benefit packages. Teesside University is less than a mile from both the Middlesbrough Bus Station and the Middlesbrough Train Station, both of which have regular services. On campus, there are bike racks, lockers, repair stations, and showers for cyclists. Students can also fly to the Teesside area, with Teesside International Airport being 13 miles away from the University. Teesside Airport has regular flights to and from a variety of airports in the United Kingdom and Europe, including Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport, a major international hub.
The University provides a number of student pay-to-park car parks on its Middlesbrough and Darlington campuses. Parking is £2.00 for the entire day or £1.50 for four hours. Payment is made through the Pay By Phone app. Students who live in the postcodes TS1-TS4 are not eligible to apply for Pay to Park parking at the Middlesbrough campus. The Middlesbrough campus is about a ten-minute walk away from Cannon Park, where the University provides a few parking permits that are free for students to use. Throughout the academic year, a regular and free shuttle bus service runs from Cannon Park to the University between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
There are many food outlets available at Teesside University which offer healthy and affordable snacks and drinks to students. They offer vegan, vegetarian and selected dietary options in food. The Student Life Building offers a selection of handmade and home-cooked street food from around the world at its newest venue called ‘StrEAT’.
