Candidates applying to the University Canada West must meet the following undergraduate and graduate requirements as mentioned below:

For undergraduate programmes

  • Secondary School Applicants who have graduated from British Columbia secondary school (high school) or equivalent are required to have, at minimum, the equivalent of a BC high school (Grade 12) diploma, with an overall average of C.

  • If you have graduated from high school but do not meet the minimum grade levels, you may still be considered for admission if you have successfully completed at least 30 academic post-secondary credits at a recognized institution.

For graduate programmes

Applicants to the MBA programme may be admitted based on the following criteria:

  • A bachelor's degree from a recognised university with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.33 scale) or above OR successful completion of UCW's MBA Foundation (MBAF) with a GPA of 3.00.

  • A qualifying score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) taken within the recent five (5) years.

  • Alternatively, a suitable Canadian professional designation or a similar foreign designation (for example, CPA, CA, CGA, CMA, CHRP, or P.Eng).

  • Or a Bachelor of Business Administration [BBA] or Bachelor of Commerce [BCom] degree from a recognised university.

  • Or a minimum of three (3) years documented professional or management experience with evidence of career progression and relevant education and/or training.

Applicants who do not fulfil the prerequisites for direct admission to the MBA programme may qualify by completing the MBA Foundation courses.

  • A bachelor's degree from a recognised post-secondary institution with a cumulative GPA of 2.33 or higher

  • A qualifying score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) taken within the recent five (5) years.

  • Or a relevant Canadian professional designation or equivalent international designation (e.g., CPA, CA, CGA, CMA, CHRP, or P. Eng).

  • Or a minimum of three (3) years of documented professional or management experience with evidence of career progression and relevant education and/or training.

English language requirements 

Candidates applying to the University Canada West must meet the English language requirements for their selected course if English is not their first language. A detailed list of required scores is mentioned below.

  • BC English 12 (or equivalence) with a final grade of 'C' (or better) in Canada.

  • Four years of full-time study in a school in a nation where English is the language of instruction, with a 'C' (or better) final-year average.

  • English A1/A2 or English Literature and Performance with a final mark of '3' (or above) from the International Baccalaureate.

  • 3-credit academic English course with a 'C' (or higher) final grade.

  • 30 credits of academic postsecondary study in a nation where English is the primary teaching language, with a CGPA of 2.00 (or higher).
