Top Business Schools accepting GRE Scores - If the latest numbers from ETS are any proof, management aspirants are increasingly taking the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) route to business schools. Around 34,021 GRE candidates opted for business schools in the 2014-15 testing year compared to 30,860 in the previous testing year which means that around 9% more candidates chose to submit GRE scores for admission to business schools over a year. Not many students are aware that there are many top Business Schools accepting GRE Scores across the World. And not just in USA, major business schools in Canada, UK, France and even Asian countries are increasingly accepting GRE scores for admission to their MBA programmes. Though unlike GMAT, there are no fixed average GRE scores for top Business Schools. In fact, most of the business schools do not publish any required minimum or average GRE score. However, the average GRE score for top business schools can be reached by converting the GMAT score to GRE scores.

GRE is a standardised test that is accepted for admission to various disciplines at many graduate and business schools across the globe. The GRE General Test (which is accepted for admission) measures an aspirant's verbal, quantitative, critical thinking and analytical writing skills which are covered in three sections — Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning and Analytical Writing. Currently, over 544,000 students take the GRE test across the World.

Sir, I would like to do my masters in biotechnology for that what type of GRE test should I apply I mean like GRE general test or GRE subject test (biology)

Swatika Sharma 24th Jan, 2020

Hello Greeshma,

As you didn't mention anything so I'm expecting you to be an undergraduate or you are pursuing it. First of all, I recommend you choose what you want to accomplish in future: Do you want to do your postgraduate, Abroad or in India itself?

GRE (Graduation Record Examination) is a universally comprehended exam which is supervised by ETS ( Education Testing Services). GRE examination is taken by future aspirants for postgraduate programs in foreign universities and its score are approved in over 160 countries colleges and universities across the world. GRE exam is conducted in two types such as- GRE general test and GRE subject test.

GRE general test is the primary requirements for most of the postgraduate programs in Abroad or in India which consists of verbal perception, analytical writing and quantitative reasoning while GRE subject test is specifically for subjects which you are looking for like biology.

In India, there are very few technical colleges which are accepting GRE scores but for not the same course you are opting for, while there are so many colleges or universities in Abroad which approved or accepted GRE scores.

In my opinion, the GRE general test should be given for admission in Postgraduate programs.  Along with the GRE general test, it's best for you to give the subject test (in biology ) which give extra weightage to your academic record either it's your choice.

Hope its help!!

What is GRE? What is its use? What is its qualifications?

Kanupriya Gupta 19th Jan, 2020

Dear Aspirant,

GRE is also called Graduate Record Examination and it tests your verbal reasoning skills, quantitative reasoning and analytical writing. It is a 3 hour and 45 minutes test and it is mandatory if you are applying for a Masters or Doctorate in the US. It is computer-based. You also have the option of taking it multiple times and there is a limit of taking it the maximum five times in a year. You can attempt it only once in 21 days. These scores are valid for 5 years. For the verbal and quantitative section, GRE score falls around 150 to 152. If you get 165 you are have secured close to 95%. In the section of analytical writing, an average score would be 3.5, 6 being the highest.

The paper is as follows:

You will have to write two essays for the analytical writing section within the time limit of 30 minutes where you will have to analyse one argument and one issue.

You will face 20 questions in verbal and quantitative learning each.

There is an unsecured section at the end of the exam which is a dummy and does not carry marks but is to be filled so that the conducting body can get information about the candidate.

Countries like USA, Canada, Singapore, Australia and UK accept GRE scores. Other than determining your eligibility, GRE seems to enhance a candidates profile. Taking subject tests in GRE seems to be an additional advantage for specific courses abroad.

Hope this helps. All the best!
