IELTS Reference Number vs IELTS Test Report Form Number

In your IELTS TRF and ATRF, you will come across two unique terms, namely, IELTS reference number and IELTS test report form number.

The reference number is a unique number assigned to each candidate to check their exam performance.

The IELTS TRF number is a unique number for each requested TRF. This number is used by the institutions to check the authenticity of your IELTS score.

What is an IELTS eTRF?

An IELTS eTRF is a digital version of the IELTS Test Report Form. Students can use their IELTS eTRF to apply for study programmes, immigration, and employment opportunities that require English proficiency.

What Does an IELTS eTRF Contain?

An IELTS eTRF contains all the key details about your IELTS test performance. These include:

  • Personal details: The IELTS TRF includes a test taker's full name, date of birth, nationality, and photograph.

  • Test details: The IELTS TRF also includes the date and location of the test, as well as the test format (Academic or General Training).

  • Test scores: Scores achieved by the test takers for each of the four sections (listening, reading, writing and speaking), as well as an overall band score.

  • Test report form verification: It always includes a unique reference IELTS TRF number to verify the authenticity of the document by IELTS accepting organisations.

How To Download IELTS eTRF?

Students can download an IELTS e-TRF once their scores are released. Follow the below-mentioned steps to download the IELTS TRF:

  • Step 1: Log in to your IELTS profile

  • Step 2: Access your results section

  • Step 3: Download your eTRF

Benefits of IELTS eTRF

Students can send their IELTS eTRF results to as many organisations as they wish with no additional fee. Some other significant benefits of IELTS eTRF are as follows:

  • Easily accessible and shareable: Once the IELTS exam results are announced, students can access their scores digitally via their official account. Students will no longer be required to wait to send their results via posts.

  • Safe and reliable: IELTS eTRFs are secure, accurate, and reliable. Students can only access it through their personal IELTS profile which has reduced the longer risk of losing IELTS test results.

  • No wastage: The availability of an IELTS eTRF has reduced paper wastage, offering a more environmentally friendly option compared to the paper Test Report Forms.

Can I Authorise Someone to Collect My Report Form on my Behalf?

Yes, you can authorise someone to collect the Report Form on your behalf. However, the authorised person collecting the TRF is required to present their original ID for verification along with a letter of authorisation and a photocopy of the candidate ID.

IELTS TRF and ATRF Verification 2025

IDP IELTS TRF is released 3 to 5 days after the test date for IELTS computer-based test and after 13 days for IELTS on paper format. Once the TRF is released, students can opt for an online verification for the IELTS TRF. Organisations that accept IELTS results can take a look at the result via a Test Report Form number to verify the test taker's identity.

The authorities introduced the TRF verification process to check the authenticity of the scores submitted by the student.

Each TRF contains a unique Test Report Form Number, usually located in the top right corner of the document. Students can check their IELTS TRF number with the official IELTS database to verify the accuracy of their result. In case of doubts or concerns about the authenticity of the TRF, contact the IELTS test centres.

How to Send IELTS Score to Institutions?

Students can send IELTS scores to universities after receiving their test results. The process is very simple and can be carried out directly from your own IELTS IDP account. Candidates can request to send their scores to their chosen organisations through the booking portal.

Have a question related to IELTS ?

Hello,

Yes, admission to a German private university with 52% in bachelors, 6.0 IELTS band, and a 1-year gap is possible, but options are limited.

Private universities in Germany are more flexible than public ones. You can apply for courses in management, business, or IT fields. However, you must justify the gap year and ensure a strong Statement of Purpose (SOP).

It’s better to contact universities directly, as some may ask for additional documents or foundation courses before admission.

Hope you understand.

Hello,

It depends on the university you are applying to. Most German universities do not require GATE for admission to a Master's in Biotechnology. However, some universities may ask for the GRE , especially if you are applying to a highly competitive program.

You should check the specific admission requirements of the universities you are interested in. Generally, having IELTS (or TOEFL) and a German language proficiency certificate (if the course is in German) is enough.

Hope it helps !
