IELTS One Skill Retake - The IELTS IDP has launched a feature called one skill retake IELTS that enables the candidate to retake one specific skill in the IELTS exam. The one specific skill can be any of listening, speaking, writing, reading, etc in IELTS.
The One-skill retake is shortly referred to as OSR. Candidates can take the OSR only once after IELTS test. Previously the IELTS one-skill retake was first available in Australia. However, Indian candidates can start taking this One Skill Retake IELTS from March 2024 onwards. Read the article on IELTS single module retake to know further details.
Students require the IELTS score to study abroad and succeed in their admission to a university abroad. Those who lack their IELTS qualifying score with one skill can opt for this IELTS single-module retake. Rather than attempting the full IELTS test candidates can choose this One Skill Retake IELTS and attempt only one skill which improves their qualifying IELTS score.
The IDP IELTS single module retake applies to IELTS General and IELTS Academic exams only. Only candidates who have taken the computer-based test can utilise this feature. Candidates need to check with the respective authorities whether the scores of IELTS one skill retake are accepted or not.
More than 700 organisations across the world accept IELTS single module retake. These organisations include universities, colleges, academic institutions, visa authorities, etc. The Australia Home Office accepts IELTS OSR scores for Australian student visa requirements..

Here are the benefits that state why opting for One Skill retake is the best option.
Attempt only one skill - Instead of taking the whole IELTS again, candidates can take only skills where improvement is required.
Similar format - The test format is similar to the previous IELTS test the candidate has taken. The candidate can easily attempt the test without learning or trying any new tools.
Original IELTS score remains the same - One Skill Retake comes with a new scorecard. The test results do not interfere with the old test scores. If the candidate wants to use the original IELTS score, they can go for it also.
Here are a few IELTS preparation tips that can be practised by the candidates to make their retake successful.
Find out lost scores - Check the reasons for scoring less for a particular question. Find out factors like time and knowledge that are resisting it and work on them.
Categorise the weaker areas - As there is only one skill to improvise, make a list of areas which need to be worked on, so that they are not missed during preparation.
Make a time schedule - As the time available to prepare for the one skill retake is limited. It would be better if the candidates create a time schedule for their IELTS prep and follow it accordingly.
Attempt all the questions - There is no negative marking in the IELTS, so the candidate is free to guess every question in the IELTS paper.

If you have completed a master's degree in the UK, you might still need to take the IELTS test to qualify for a Permanent Residency (PR) or Work Visa in Australia. For better guidance, Invicta Institute can provide you with detailed information and assistance regarding the specific English language requirements for Australian PR or Work Visa applications. Invicta's experienced counselors can help you navigate the process and determine if your UK degree suffices or if you need to take the IELTS test.
Since you're currently in the first year of your Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), planning ahead for your MBA abroad is a wise decision. The ideal time to take your IELTS exam is during your third year of B.Com. This timing ensures that your IELTS score, which is valid for two years, will still be valid when you apply for MBA programs.
