About LLB Hons Law - Accelerated

LLB Hons Law - Accelerated programme is a comprehensively designed course by School of Law of Keele University. It is a 2-year LLB programme specially planned for the highly motivated students who wish to complete their law degree within a condensed period of time. Each academic year of the programme is divided into 3 semesters containing compulsory and optional modules. The programme covers deeply the core ‘foundational’ Law subjects including Criminal Law, Trusts, European Union Law in Context, Contract, Tort, Property/Land Law and Public Law (Constitutional Law, Administrative Law and Human Rights), contemporary issues in family law, disability law, commercial, employment law and professional legal practice modules.

The curriculum of the programme also involves professional training at Legal Advice Clinics of the law school which can be used as a portfolio after graduation, specially designed CLOCK programme and participating in national and international mooting competitions. The students are also provided opportunities to choose between placement year and international year which can be selected at the end of second year leading to the extension of the programme to 3 years. This extra year opportunity is optional to students. The freedom to choose and learn a language is also provided to students. Placement year, International year and language are additional opportunities provided to the students of this programme. The programme also includes hosting events like Law Fair and Legal Dining which helps in networking with renowned legal professionals and gaining guidance from them about the legal field. 

The teaching methods throughout the programme include traditional/interactive lectures, tutor-led seminars, problem-based tutorials, workshops, practical classes, experiential learning, directed independent study and collaborative activity (in class and online). Assessment methods may include Online open book assessment, Research essays or reports, Legal document writing, Portfolios, Assignments - E.g. blogs, poster, conversation piece, Web based exercises - E.g. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ's) and Independent study project. 

Facilities like moot court room, student social space and legal advice clinic rooms are provided to students. Student learning development fellow supports students with their learning and skill development through 1-2-1 sessions. Students get one-on-one support from the program director each semester oftenly. There is also a ‘Student Experience and Support Team’ available for students to help them with their pastoral queries and to provide them one-to-one support.

LLB Hons Law - Accelerated programme of Keele University helps students gaining skills like legal, digital, communication and presentation skills. It also inculcates in them research, reading, writing, presentation, public speaking, analytical and problem solving skills.

Admission and Application

Before applying to the LLB Hons Law - Accelerated , applicants must read the eligibility criteria carefully and then head to the University admission portal. While applying, the applicants must take note that the information filled in the online application form is complete and accurate. Also, all the required documents must be submitted successfully. 

How To Apply for LLB Hons Law - Accelerated Programme

  • The applicants must read all the detailed information regarding the programme available on the University website.

  • Then, the applicants can apply for the programme via UCAS.

  • The UCAS code for the Keele University is K12 while the UCAS Code for the programme is M104. This information is to be filled in the online application form.

  • The application must include applicant’s personal details and qualifications, course choices, a personal statement and a reference from a teacher, adviser or professional who knows the applicant academically.

  • Submit the application.

  • The applicants can check the status of their application on UCAS website through the login credentials of their registered account on the website.

  • The submitted application is reviewed by the concerned authorities and a decision regarding the application is made.

  • There are two types of offers made by the University to the applicants- one is a typical offer which is made when the applicant meets all the minimum requirements and the other one is alternative offers which is made when the applicant does not meet the requirements. Once the applicants accept the offers, they can apply for accommodation.

  • The University place of the applicants is confirmed based upon meeting entry requirements by the applicants and accommodation.

  • During the enrollment week, the applicants are sent their Keele IT account details and enrollment details.

Eligibility

Every college or university has its own minimum requirements which helps in filtering out the non-eligible students. There are different minimum requirements for different qualifications of the applicants or countries.   

Minimum Requirements for Indian Applicants

  • The applicants who have completed their 12th standard from ICSE, CBSE or Western Bengal Board must have scored an average of 80% in four subjects.

  • The applicants from other boards must have scored an average of 85% in their 12th standard.

English Language Requirements for Indian Applicants

Apart from the above criteria, English Language Requirements are also needed. The English language requirements can be met in following ways:

  • An English language qualification OR

  • An English language test OR 

  • A specific exemption

In case of English Language Qualification

  • The students from CBSE or ICSE boards require 70% in English language in their 12th standard valid for 5 years.

  • The students from other state boards except Punjab board require 75% in English language in their 12th standard valid for 5 years.
