Aston University is a public research university located in the city of Birmingham, England. The university was established in 1895 as the Birmingham Municipal Technical School, and in 1956 it became the UK's first College of Advanced Technology. In 1966, the university was granted university status.

Aston University Eligibility

Candidates from India must have the following entry requirements:

  • Indian students with International School Qualifications such as IGCSE, and International Baccalaureate in addition to the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE/ISCE) or Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and State Board qualifications for direct entry to Undergraduate programmes.

  • Students must have completed a relevant Bachelor’s degree with the minimum UK equivalent GPA required for entry into a Master's programme, in line with the grades below.

Postgraduate Research

Students must have completed a Master’s degree from a recognised institution with a minimum of 2:1 UK equivalent degree classification. All PhD applicants need to contact the research groups directly with their research proposal.

English language requirements 

If English is not their first language, candidates seeking admission to Aston must satisfy the English language requirements for their chosen course. Aston University Library is on four floors and contains over 250,000 books, 800 current printed periodicals, and over 700 reader seats. A silent study space is designated for the third floor. In the library, 127 computers are accessible to students. The student can sign in with their university login and password and use them on a first-come, first-served basis. The first, second, and third floors all have computers. During exam season, the library is accessible to Aston students, faculty, and staff 24 hours a day; during term time, it is open an average of 12 hours a day.
