    About Victoria University

    Victoria University was first established in 1916 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, but the institute received its university status in 1991. Victoria University campus is in the heart of the city. Other VU campuses are spread across Melbourne's western suburbs. The campuses are City Campus, Footscray Nicholson Campus, Footscray Park Campus, St Albans Campus, Sunshine Campus, Werribee, VU Brisbane, and VU Sydney. The university offers various facilities including Sports, Cafeteria, Library, Gym, Transport and parking, Prayer rooms, Bookshop. Victoria University is considered to be one of the largest and most culturally diverse institutions in Australia. They have more than 14,000 international students enrolled, and 40,000+ local students. 

    Every year, many local and international enrol for graduate, postgraduate, research, and certification courses. VU is one of only six universities in Australia which offer courses in both TAFE and higher education such as graduate diplomas, postgraduate and research programmes. Admission to TAFE is done through VTAC, and the students can also apply online by filling out the application form available online on the official website. The application fee is AUD 75. International students are required to have an English language Proficiency in IELTS/TOEFL/PTE.

    Candidates applying to Victoria University can apply directly to the university by filling out the application form online on the official website. For year 12 students, there are some tertiary courses available. Year 12 students can apply through VTAC for admission to the university. 

    How to apply for Victoria University?

    For admission to the undergraduate and post-graduate programmes at Victoria University, students must follow the steps mentioned below to apply directly to VU:

    • Visit the official website - www.vu.edu.au. 

    • Click on “How to Apply” under Study at VU section.

    • Choose amongst undergraduate, postgraduate, research and TAFE courses. 

    • Click on “Start your application”.

    • Create an account on the page - https://gotovu.custhelp.com/app/landing. 

    • Fill out the application form.

    • Attach required scanned documents.

    • Submit the application form.

    If the students are currently year 12 students, they have to go through VTAC (Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre). To apply through VTAC, follow the given procedure:

    • Create a VTAC account on vtac.edu.au.

    • Log in with VTAC ID and PIN.

    • Enter details of your secondary school studies, following the prompts.

    • List course preferences: enter at least 1 course, and up to 8 courses

    • Enter any additional info required

    • Review the application and check if it is correctly filled.

    • Pay the VTAC application fee.

    • Submit the application.

    Application fees for Victoria University - Candidates interested in seeking admission to Victoria University must complete an application form and pay an A$75 application fee. There is no reimbursement for the application cost. The fees must be paid since the form cannot be submitted without it. For VTAC application, a fee of $55.00 has to be paid.

    Victoria University Scholarship

    At Victoria University, all the students are offered scholarships to help them continue their education. Each year, hundreds of scholarships are awarded to students at all levels: TAFE (certificates and diplomas), undergraduate (bachelor degrees and honours) and postgraduate. There are some Externally Funded Scholarships as well at VU. Interested students can check their eligibility on the official website. Students can apply for multiple scholarships but will only be granted with one scholarship. 

    • TAFE Scholarships offered to TAFE students who need financial and practical assistance. Reward varies from $250 - $1000.

    • Bachelor Degree, Honours & Postgraduate Scholarships are offered to students who are currently enrolled in these courses at the university. The value of the reward varies between $250 - $20,000.

    • Graduate Research Scholarships are offered to researchers at the Victoria University. 

    • International Scholarships - International students are provided with some financial assistance and rewards.

    To apply for undergraduate programmes at Victoria University, students must be eligible to the following criteria:

    • The applicant must have Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), an Australian or overseas equivalent, or an International Baccalaureate (IB) in the last two years.

    Victoria University Campus Life

    Victoria University (VU) campus life helps the students to learn social skills and to gain learning opportunities with events organised by the university. There are various competitions and surveys held throughout the year. Victoria University embraces and celebrates the religious and spiritual diversity and to support this, they provide a range of religious and spiritual spaces for staff and students, and a number of multi-faith chaplains are available. VU has a TV Studio with green room available for University and external groups.  The TV Studio contains: interview stage with white or black curtains, green cyclorama, large drama set, a full visual control room, audio control room and many more. VU has a dedicated music rehearsal room, a bespoke recital performance hall and recording studio available for student use. VU campuses have tight security to provide a safe environment to all students.

    Victoria University has seven libraries across its campuses in Melbourne, and other learning hubs. They offer a variety of facilities and services including: Wi-Fi access, individual / group study spaces, quiet study areas, study rooms, printing and copying services, specialist software, PCs and laptops.

    The university also offers a bookshop which provides textbooks, study guides and reference books (including all VU courses) to all students. They also have thousands of products like audio, backpacks, stationery. They have Apple devices (education pricing) and tech accessories, musical instruments, sports equipment, footwear and activewear.

    VU gyms are available on multiple campuses. The students can take personal training, group exercise classes, aerobics and martial arts rooms. They have a fully equipped gym with cardiovascular equipment.

    VU offers various sports facilities including indoor sports courts, an athletics track, tennis courts, fully equipped gym, multipurpose sports court for basketball, netball, badminton and volley ball. They also have an outdoor half-court and functional training area, martial arts and community groups. VU provides three multipurpose courts for basketball, netball, badminton and volleyball, basketball, and table tennis.

    Swimming Pool

    The university offers a 25m swimming pool along with swimming lessons. These learning programs are available for children and adults at the Footscray Park Aquatic & Fitness Centre Swim School of Victoria University.

    Transport Facility

    Melbourne has a public transport network of trains, trams and buses in all parts of the city. These transports are reliable, safe and easy to use. International students are able to apply for an International Student Travel Pass which can be used to access public transport travel discount scheme for international students. Students are also free to use the shuttle buses offered by Victoria University. The shuttle buses are available on weekdays only, and it connects the Footscray and St Albans campuses to their nearest train stations.

    Parking Facility

    The students at Victoria University also have bicycle parking at all of their campuses and bicycle hubs at Footscray Nicholson and Footscray Park campus.

    Victoria University Accommodation

    The university offers on campus accommodation to the students. It is a 12-storey building which can accommodate more than 500 students. There are 2 and 6 sharing bedroom options. Housing residences are located on the Footscray Park Campus and are operated by UniLodge. The building is at a few minutes walking distance from the hub of Footscray city.      Yes, the university has housing residencies for students. The hostels are available in shared flats with fully furnished rooms, TV, laundry area, cafeteria, games, and many more. 

    The students are allowed to use their bicycles on the campus. They can also park it inside. Also, there are free shuttle buses on weekdays for all the students and staff which drop them to the nearby train station. 

    Applicants seeking admission to undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programmes at VU are required to meet specific English Language Proficiency standards. Students are required to score at least 6.5 or above in the exam to be considered eligible for Victoria University admissions.
