Flinders University Scholarship

For Undergraduate programmes

Completion of a CBSE School Certificate with an average of at least 65% in the best 4 subjects (excluding local language) or completion of an ISC School Certificate with an average of at least 70% in the best 4 subjects (excluding local language)

For postgraduate programmes

  • The equivalent of a three-year Australian bachelor's degree.

  • To qualify for some degrees, the applicant might need to have job experience. The employer will need to provide a reference or statement.

  • The four-year Doctor of Medicine program has specific criteria.

For research degree

The applicant must have a university degree and a postgraduate qualification (at least AQF level 8 or 9) with a sizable research component in order to apply for HDR admission. However, admission standards differ between HDR programs, so he/she must check the particular admission standards for the chosen HDR.

English language requirements

Wifi

Eduroam wireless network is available on the Flinders University campus. The Eduroam wireless network was created for the research and educational communities and offers secure international roaming connectivity. All the university employees and students use it as their wireless network of choice.

Library

Flinders University has 4 libraries of which Central Library is the largest branch. All the branches remain open 24/7 and have facilities including full access to books, study spaces, group study rooms, internet, PCs, printers, photocopy machines, adaptive technology rooms, and support to disabled persons. An appointment is needed to view special collections of the libraries which are unique and rare materials. A private study space is available to higher-degree students via swipe card access. Specialist library staff are employed for these libraries. 

Laboratories

Flinders University has 30+ laboratories and research centres on its campus for various departments. The university grants access to these laboratories and research centres to internal and external researchers and organisations.

At Flinders University, in the Hub, close to the student kitchen, there is one ATM. The Daily Kitchen Co. on the Sturt campus has two ATMs. The majority of retail establishments offer EFTPOS services. For the majority of significant banks and credit unions, the Post Office offers deposits, withdrawals, and balance checking.

Various fitness facilities are available to students on campus such as a weights room, cardio and functional training room, strength and conditioning room, and a modern and air-conditioned gym for all. Apart from this, there is a separate ladies' gym available on campus for ladies. Group fitness classes, fearless programs, and personal fitness training are also part of the fitness facilities at Flinders University. 

Sports

There are sports facilities available on the campus of Flinders University which include the Central Pavilion with change rooms and function area, including a canteen and kitchen facilities; sports hall (badminton, volleyball, basketball, indoor soccer, and netball courts); three squash courts; one baseball diamond; one Australian Rules Football oval with lighting; two soccer pitches and three cricket ovals and practice nets. Sports club memberships are also available to students.

Parking Facility

For students, staff, and visitors, Flinders University offers parking spaces throughout its Bedford Park campus. On the Tonsley campus, there is parking available for both students and staff. When parking on campus between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, one must pay. On days that are recognized as national holidays, parking is free. People are advised to always park in a white, generally designated parking space. Reserved, access (disabled), loading zones, blue bays, and parking spots marked with the sign "at all times" are monitored around the clock and are not simply general marked parking spaces. 

Transport Facility

Both Flinders University and Flinders Medical Center are serviced by a number of buses. At the Flinders Medical Centre, the Marion Access Service and services from the southern suburbs connect with the University's Loop Bus service. Railway stations and Marion Shopping Center both offer connecting services. The new Flinders Railway Line and Flinders Station, which provide commuters a quicker, smoother ride from the CBD in just 22 minutes, have made it much simpler to get to Flinders University.

Flinders University has 12+ cafeterias on its campus which remain open on an average from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There are a variety of dishes and cuisines available for students/staff/faculty of the university at affordable prices.

Medical/Hospital

Flinders University's fully staffed and accredited Medical Center offers a private health service to all currently enrolled students. All appropriate consultations are billed in full. The health service offers first aid, health screenings (such as pap smears, skin checks, cholesterol, STDs, etc.), staff medicals, minor surgery, health education, vaccinations (both for work in the medical field and travel), referrals, and SA Pathology, in addition to emergency and routine medical care. 

Convenience Store

Students can find free and low-cost fruits, vegetables, and bread along with low-cost pantry items at Flinders Community Market. Every Thursday during the academic year, from 11 AM to 1 PM, the Oasis Student Wellbeing Center hosts the Flinders Community Market. Normally, the market is open during exam time but shuts down for the mid-year and end-of-year breaks.

I.T Infrastructure

In order to facilitate access to all of the University's internet services, as well as broader Internet connectivity, Flinders University has put up state-of-the-art network infrastructure at a very fast speed. Flinders University offers access to the University network and its resources from anywhere using a Virtual Private Network (VPN). Flinders University has a wired data connection in most areas of the campus. It will give staff and students access to a wired infrastructure that delivers fast network speeds to their desktops and enables high-speed transmission of data, audio, video, and other online content.

The University has housing facility available on campus for students at Flinders Living, in either University Hall or the Deirdre Jordan Village. If you want to apply for on-campus housing you must lodge your application and references by mid-December if starting in semester 1, or mid-May if starting in semester 2.

Applications will be ranked and you will be notified if you are offered a place usually about 1 month after lodging your application. If you apply after these dates you may still be offered a place depending on availability. If you live on campus you will have to sign a housing contract per semester or year. Note if you only sign a semester contract, you will have to pay an extra cost.

The University Cashier accepts Visa and Mastercard credit cards. You will need to have your student number ready (located under the first paragraph of your offer letter) and record the receipt number.

If you wish to accept the offer from the University you must complete the ‘Your Agreement With Flinders’ form, pay the semester tuition fee and full length OSHC as stated in the offer letter. If the offer is conditional you cannot complete this process until all conditions are met. Once this documentation and payments are received, the relevant documentation will be sent to you to apply for your student visa.

Undergraduate applications are usually processed within 10 working days. Postgraduate applications are usually processed within 10 working days. Research applications can take up to eight weeks to process.
