IELTS writing task 1 pie charts answers

The above pie chart shows the percentage of modes of transport preferred by commutators in the UK in 2004 and 2009 for both study and work purposes.

After going through the pie chart, we can realise that there is a substantial decrease of 23% in the percentage of people who travel by car in 2009 as compared to 2004. It can also be noticed that all other modes of transport have seen a surge from 2004 to 2009.

In 2004, almost half of the population preferred to travel by bus but in 2009, it was replaced by bus. Due to this, the greatest surge was seen in buses as it had a surge of 13% compared to all other modes of transport. The commutation through cycles also increased to almost double in 2009 as compared to 2004.

There is a stable change in the proportion of travellers who commute using trains and walking. After buses, the second greatest increase was seen in the number of cyclists as it increased by 7% from 2004 to 2009. Nevertheless, the train remained the least preferred mode of transportation, holding only 3% of all methods in 2004 and 4% in 2009.

Therefore, we can say the data presented in the pie charts suggest that bus transportation has become increasingly popular over the last five years, leading to a decline in car travel. And while walking and cycling were moderately popular, the train remained the least preferred method of commuting to the university in both periods.

NOTE

The preceding question falls into the category of pie chart interpretation questions. These questions can be difficult and confusing, especially considering the complexity of the pie chart and the information depicted on it. The most effective approach to navigating this challenge is through continuous practice. Candidates are strongly advised to undertake numerous IELTS writing practice tests to acquaint themselves with the test patterns and question formats.

IELTS writing task advantages and disadvantages based essay solution

These days, pursuing an education abroad has become one of the most sought-after endeavours. Most students intend to pursue their education abroad, particularly for master's degrees. A contributing factor to the growing popularity of studying abroad is the relaxation of international travel regulations and policies. Studying abroad has benefits and drawbacks, though, and the paragraphs that follow will discuss the subject and go into more detail about why the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

Many first-world nations have more advanced and sophisticated educational systems, which is one of the main reasons people study overseas. Students from emerging or undeveloped nations, such as Brazil, China, India, Argentina, and others, frequently search for better academic opportunities abroad than they can find back home. Living abroad also gives people exposure to the global community. It promotes the development of social and interpersonal skills, all of which are critical for qualifying for well-paying employment possibilities.

However, there are a lot of disadvantages to studying abroad. First of all, it is an expensive process from the time you apply to a foreign university until you finish your degree. Many households find it unaffordable to invest in such an expensive endeavour. That being said, due to cultural and social traditions that differ, getting used to the norms and customs of a foreign nation can be a challenge for many people.

In conclusion, if pursuing an education abroad is financially possible for aspirant students, it can truly be a boon. I also strongly believe that the advantages of studying abroad outweigh the disadvantages.

NOTE

The provided question type is identified as an advantages and disadvantages essay. Candidates can excel in addressing this type of question with ease through extensive IELTS writing practice, particularly by taking IELTS writing exam practice tests. Candidates must allocate sufficient time to study advantages and disadvantages essays in their IELTS writing practice, as these are frequently seen in previous years' questions.

Invicta's experienced counselors can help you navigate the process and determine if your UK degree suffices or if you need to take the IELTS test.

Since you're currently in the first year of your Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), planning ahead for your MBA abroad is a wise decision.
