About BA Art History

BA Art History is an interdisciplinary program which focuses on historical, political, social, cultural and material aspects of art and visual culture with an emphasis on both global and regional issues in the production of art. The programme is offered by the School of Art and Design of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale(USA). 

The students of BA Art History programme at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale (USA) get to know in depth the art and visual culture practices from the ancient worlds to the contemporary world. Documents Required for BA Art History

Eligibility

To get admission into BA Art History programme at Southern Illinois University, the minimum requirements for the programme are to be met by the applicants. The eligibility criteria for freshman students and transfer students are different. 

Minimum Requirements for Freshman Applicants

The applicants from high school must meet one of the following criteria to get an automatic admission to BA Art History.

  • The applicants must have secured a cumulative high school GPA of 2.75 on a scale of 4.0

  • The applicants must rank in the top 10% of their graduating class.

  • The applicants must have secured 23 in ACT or 1130 in SAT or a test score equivalent to them(Applicable only for domestic applicants).

Minimum Requirements for Transfer Applicants

  • The applicants must have at least 12 transferable semester hours or 18 quarter hours. Apart from this, they must have secured at least 2.0/4.0 GPA as per the transfer institution grading system.

  • The applicants who have less than 12 transferable hours must have secured a 2.0/4.0 GPA along with meeting the freshman admission requirements.

English Language Requirements of BA Art History 

The applicants must meet one of the following English language requirements.

  • TOEFL (IBT internet-based test) - 68

  • TOEFL (paper based test) - 520

  • ITEP - 3.6 (academic plus only)

  • IELTS - 6.0

  • DUOLINGO- 95

  • PTE- 47

  • The applicants must be from a country where the primary language is English.

  • The applicants must have taken two face-to-face English composition classes in the US at the college level with a grade of A or B.

  • The applicants must have completed more than 48 college-level credit hours at a US institution 

  • The applicants must have graduated from a high school in the US.

  • The applicants must have secured 23 in ACT or 1140 in SAT.

The applications of the applicants who do not meet the requirements are then reviewed for admission under an internal review process.
