The university was founded in 1986 as a federation of seven former independent colleges and was originally known as the London Institute.     University of Reading Admission and Application

    How to Apply to the University of Reading

    Candidates who are applying to the University of Reading admission must follow a particular procedure. Additionally, some forms must be submitted for international students. Before applying, the students must check the availability of scholarships and the prerequisites for obtaining a visa to ensure the application occurs without any issues.

    Undergraduates

    For the foundation program and undergraduate programs, the students must apply through UCAS or the national admissions service.

    • Go to the official website-reading.ac.uk and browse the courses and choose the preferred course.

    • Then visit the UCAS portal and enter the university code, and select the preferred course via the degree finder.

    • Check all the entry requirements and click on "Apply" then register on the UCAS website for a new application and enter the necessary information and attach the required documents.

    • Pay the application fee, save the application form then print a copy for your records.

    Postgraduates

    Candidates interested must apply directly online on the official website- reading.ac.uk through the online application system, RISIS.

    • On the official website check the minimum requirements on the subject finder and finalize the preferred course after browsing the courses.

    • Click on the ‘Apply’ option on the applicant portal, and register. Then enter the required details and attach the important documents.

    • Verify the application before submitting it.

    The students applying to the University of Reading admission must submit all necessary paperwork along with their application. The documents are prerequisites by the university which will ensure the student's application is processed smoothly.

    • International students need to have English as their first language or else, candidates need to have qualifying scores in any English proficiency test like the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System Academic (IELTS Academic) or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (C2 Proficiency) or Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (C1 Advanced) or General Certificate of Education: Ordinary Level or Language Cert International or The Pearson Test of English Academic PTE (Academic).

    Throughout the academic year, the university of Reading library is open 24 hours a day except on Saturday nights.     The University of Reading has many amazing choices and food and drink varieties for students. The cafes around the campus are Café No 1, Agriculture Café, Café Trilobite, and Dol. che Vita, Enterprise Café, Henley Business School Café, Library Café, Refuel SportsPark Café, The Breakfast Box, and The Dairy's Architecture Café and all these open around 8:30 am and are best for a coffee break. The university also has casual dining at The Square, St Patrick's Dining, and more. Nightlife and clubs can be found at Ice House, Park Bar, Park House, The Dairy Park Bar, Ice House, Wantage Bar, Eat and Drink London Road, and Northcourt Bar.

    The university has The Reading University Students' Union (RUSU) which has a wide range of sports and dance clubs, which are run voluntarily by students. The university has over 50 groups like Inline Hocke, Jitsu, and Judo which cover both competitive and non-competitive sports and dance.

    • University SportsPark has a state-of-the-art fitness studio, specialist exercise studios, squash courts, and a large, multi-purpose sports hall.

    • Tennis Park has three indoor courts in the tennis dome and five fully floodlit outdoor courts.

    • Sports pitches from football, rugby, lacrosse, hockey, and cricket pitches to tennis and netball courts. The SoccerPark is a purpose-built, floodlit pitch, equipped with synthetic turf pitches for football and hockey.

    • The university has the best rowers and a world-class boathouse facility on the river Thames, a 15-minute bike ride from campus. This boathouse has a rowers' fitness gym and professional coaching is also available.

    The University of Reading also provides sports scholarships for rowers.

    Transportation

    The University of Reading is accessible to students provided they learn to travel using the public transport system. The university strives to instill sustainable travel methods in its students. 

    Students wishing to travel via bus have discounted bus rates with ‘boost’, and a PlusBus ticket provides discounts for rail and bus travel combined students can check out the website for additional information regarding travel and maps. For rail travel, students can issue a 16-25 Railcard for a 33 per cent discount, and Great Western Railway provides visitor day offers.

    If students wish to travel via cycle then, the university provides free cycle maintenance and cycle training, second-hand bike sale, bike security and parking, and more. This is the most sustainable transport system out of all. 

    Other offers include the Co-Wheels car club which will let students hire a car by the hour. And a free membership plus £25 driving credit, Free Park and Ride service from Mereoak.

    The accommodation in UK is provided in the residence halls. The various residence halls are Benyon Hall, Bridges Hall, Dunsden Crescent, Childs Hall, Mackinder Hall, Sherfield Hall, St. George’s Hall, Stenton Townhouse, Windsor Hall, Northcourt, St Patrick's Hall, Mackinder Hall, Wessex Hall, Wantage Hall, and Creighton Court. The rooms are available as catered and self-catered accommodation for the duration of 40 to 50 weeks in the range of £160.01 to £300.00.
