    About MA Curation - Contemporary Art and Cultural Management

    MA Curation Contemporary Art and Cultural Management prepares students about the international contemporary art world by developing an understanding of the cultural, social, and economic issues involved in it. This University of Exeter course equips students with visual literacy, high-order conceptual and communication skills for the arts sector and beyond. Apart from studying a course with higher employability rate, students will also gain many academic and transferable skills. University of Exeter provides opportunities for expert international art fairs, guest lecturers, and field trips to London throughout the duration of the course. Students will be experiencing the culturally-rich South West of the UK.

    Students need to achieve a total of 180 credits with compulsory modules to be awarded a MA degree. There are four modules of coursework of 30 credits each, a dissertation of 60 credits, and a curatorial project of 60 credits. Institutions and Agencies: the Business of Contemporary Art, Arts of the Contemporary World, Art Writing are course-work subjects. In the Art Writing module students will write arts criticism, interpretation, exhibition texts, online content and podcasts.

    After successful completion of the course, the course graduates can find career opportunities in public galleries or museums, Arts and Culture Policy industries, Heritage Management, Commercial galleries and dealerships, Curation, Arts Investment and Wealth Management, Academia, Marketing, PR and Communications, cultural management departments of governments. The course also prepares students for advanced art history, gallery studies, or related disciplines.

    Eligibility

    PG taught programs have high competition for University of Exeter. So the university may conduct interviews to select candidates. Merely, fulfilling the eligibility criteria doesn’t guarantee admission. Academic requirements need completion of a bachelor’s degree with minimum 60%. Candidates with a score of 50-65% need to have work experience.

    • A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 58 - 60% or CGPA of 5.8-7.5 on a 10 point scale that partly or fully covers Drama, Art History, Business Studies, Cultural Studies, English, or History.

    • A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50 - 65% along with work experience.

    • IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component.

    • TOEFL IBT score of 90 with minimum 21 for writing, listening, reading and speaking. 

    • PTE Score of 67 with minimum 64 in all communicative skills.
