Study Amenities

Library

While studying at the university of Chester, students can access any of its six libraries located across different campuses and centres. They include Seaborne Library, Guildhall Library,  Queen's Park Library, Wheeler Library, Kingsway Library, and a Health and social care library at  Birkenhead centre. Together they hold over 300,000 books, journals and other resources. All libraries provide all libraries study areas, reservable study rooms, and specialist staff to support library resources and learning. Free WiFi is available at all libraries with 24/7 access with University of Chester ID card in select libraries. Borrowing is allowed with the university ID card. Windows notebooks and laptops, Macbooks, Dictaphones are loaned to student.

University of Chester offers around 50 athletic and recreational sports that include everything from American football, Archery, Boxing to cheerleading, KungFu, and Snowsports. Each campus has its own sports teams. Sports facilities include a sports hall (6 badminton courts, 2 volleyball courts, 2 basketball courts, a netball court, and futsal court), hockey-specific AstroTurf pitch, 2 squash courts, 2 outdoor tennis courts, an all-weather sprint track, and a 3G pitch for multiuse. Athletic teams compete in British Universities and Colleges Sport championships. University of Chester offers sports scholarships available for deserving students.

Swimming Pool

The University of Chester has one swimming pool at Exton Park, within the Fitness Centre complex. It is a 25 metre, 5 lane pool that is home to water polo and swimming teams of the university and various recreational swim activities.

Gym

The university has a gymnasium with a sprung floor and mirrored wall. With an open and light space students can enjoy a range of fitness classes, dance sessions. University of Chester has a fitness suite that offers a range of equipment from treadmills, squat racks, free weights to core and stretching, together with over 100 pieces of equipment. Students need membership to access fitness suite facilities that include yearly, termly, monthly, weekly subscriptions.

Students have public transport (city buses and trains), bicycling, car, car sharing, inter-campus shuttle buses, as major transport options while studying at University of Chester. Bus stations and train stations are all located within walking distance from all campuses including Chester, and Warrington. Students can save money with passes and seasonal tickets in public transport. University of Chester provides bike storage facilities, maintenance partners at reduced prices, scooter hires, as well as bicycle route maps to promote bicycle usage. 

Students and staff can use inter-campus shuttle buses between select routes in both ways: Chester – Warrington, Chester – Thornton Science Park, Chester – Queen’s Park Campus. Liftshare is a portal students can use to get shared car rides.

There are around 10 cafeterias that belong to the University of Chester located across all campuses along with dining halls for meal plans. The cafeterias in Exton Park are Binks Brasserie, Binks Grab & Go, UOC Bar and Varsity Sports Bar, The Gourmet Burger House, Seaborne Library Grab & Go. Creative Campus Kingsway has Dining @ Wild for freshly brewed coffees, hot and cold beverages, snacks, lighter meals, sandwiches, homemade desserts, confectionery, cakes, crisps, fruit, and much more. There are two Queen's Park cafeterias, Brasserie de Gaulle, Montgomery's Grab & Go. Riverside, Thornton, and Warrington have one coffee shop each where students can get snacks and beverages.
