    About Northumbria University

    Northumbria University is a public university in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England. Formerly known as Newcastle Polytechnic, it was renamed the University of Northumbria in 1992. Northumbria University is ranked 28th in the UK for quality-related (QR) power, according to the results of the 2021 Research Excellence Framework. Northumbria University was ranked 651–700 in the world by QS World University Rankings 2023 and 501–600th in the world in the Times Higher Education (THE) 2023 World University Rankings.

    Two sizable campuses for the institution are located in Newcastle, and one is in London. Newcastle upon Tyne's City Campus is split into City Campus East and City Campus West by the city's major highway. Northumbria is a member of the Wallace Group, the University of the United Kingdom, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities. Seven institutions in the UK have come together to form the Wallace Group with the goal of encouraging sports and health programmes in underdeveloped nations.

    Northumbria University Eligibility

    Northumbria University has country-specific requirements for its courses.

     For admission to undergraduate programme:

    • Students from India must have completed Standard XII or Class XII from the CBSE or CISC with a grade of 65% or higher.

    • Students from the United States must have a high school diploma and a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0.

    • Students from China will need a senior high school certificate with a required grade of 80 percent.

    For admission to the postgraduate programme:

    • Indian students will need an Undergraduate degree with 55 per cent for courses requiring a 2:2 and 65 per cent for courses requiring a 2:1.

    • Chinese students need a Bachelor Degree (4 Year) with 70 percent for courses requiring a 2:2 and 75 percent for courses requiring a 2:1.

    • Students from the USA need a bachelor's degree that is awarded by a regionally accredited institution with a GPA of 2.8 or above for courses that require a UK 2:1 equivalent and a GPA of 3.3 or above for courses that require a UK 2:1 equivalent.
