LJMU has two libraries, one for each campus: The Aldham Robarts Library serves students studying at the Mount Pleasant Campus or living elsewhere in the central Knowledge Quarter area. It is a component of the Mount Pleasant Campus. The library primarily serves the faculties of business and law as well as media, arts, and social science. The Avril Robarts Library serves students primarily who attend classes at the City Campus and is a component of that campus.

All LJMU students, staff, and alumni are welcome to use the LJMU Sport Building. The Sport Building has a sports hall with eight courts, two multipurpose studio rooms, and a two-floor gym with more than 120 training stations and the most recent Technogym Excite line of equipment. In the annual inter-university derby, John Moores University and the University of Liverpool face off for "The Varsity Cup."
