The HEC, Montreal, was established in the year 1907 by the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. HEC is a bilingual public business school, recognised as the first established school of management in Canada. HEC Eligibility

Candidates must confirm their eligibility to book a seat at HEC. The eligibility criteria for international students are as follows:

  • Candidates who have completed an undergraduate degree

  • Applicants who have at least 3 years of full-time professional experience

  • Pass certificate in GMAT, TAGE MAGE, or GRE 

English language requirements 

  • Candidates must hold a diploma of collegial studies (DCS) from an English-language institution.

  • They must have completed high school studies entirely in English, without taking any welcome or anglicization courses.

  • Passed an English-as-second-language course at a French-language CEGEP in Quebec.

  • Level 103 for the M.Sc. programme.

  • Level 102 for all other programmes.

  • Passed a language test at an English-language university with requirements for English-language proficiency equivalent to those of HEC Montreal.

  • Completed three years (90 credits) of university studies entirely in English, at an English-language university.

  • Holds a certificate of language proficiency in English as a second language, issued by a recognized educational institution (30 credits).

Candidates seeking admission to HEC must meet the English language requirements for their selected course if English is not their first language. If they do not meet the requirements stated above, candidates can also appear for any of the tests mentioned below.

The HEC Cote-Sainte-Catherine building consists of 40 classrooms that provide seating for over 2000 students. The largest classroom of the institution has a capacity of 110 seats and the smallest has a limit of 16 student seats. All the classrooms are equipped with fully computerised electrical outlets for each seat. The institution also offers wireless network access throughout the college buildings.

The HEC institute has a vast, light-filled HEC Montréal library on the second floor of the building. The HEC library has 774 workstations, 32 computer terminals, 1 room with 2 Bloomberg stations, 12 rooms for teamwork, and 3 spaces. The HEC library serves over 450,000 users per year and is open seven days a week for students and members.

The complex offers multiple sports facilities for racquet sports, rooms for martial arts, dance, yoga, and gymnastics, an indoor pool, and an outdoor field for soccer and football. Candidates enrolled in the HEC’s full-time courses can join the Université de Montréal’s excellence programme to complete their provincial and national levels on one of the Carabins teams.
