About University of Wollongong

Established in 1951, the University of Wollongong is a public research university in Australia that provides an outstanding educational legacy to its students. The university, which is situated in Wollongong, a seaside city in New South Wales, is a centre of exceptional cultural diversity. It has been ranked 30th among the world’s best modern universities by Times Higher Education Young Rankings 2023.

The early action applications of the University of Wollongong started in June and are expected to close by August. The University of Wollongong acceptance rate is approximately  30%. The minimum GPA required for admission to UOW is 2.5. 

The tuition fee for the undergraduate programme is between INR 7.46 Lakhs and INR 10.54 Lakhs (AUD 13,968 and AUD 19,728) whereas the tuition fee for the graduate programme ranges between INR 4.28 Lakhs and INR 17.37 Lakhs (AUD 8,016 and AUD 32,520). 

The University of Wollongong accepts entrances like ACT/SAT for admission to its undergraduate courses. A GMAT score of 550 or above is required for admission to the postgraduate programme. GRE is not mandatory if a student has a good GPA and mandatory English Test score. 

The English Level tests required for admission are IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Cambridge, and OET. Students can attempt any of the above tests as per the course requirement and eligibility. The popular courses that most students apply to UOW are Accounting and Finance, Law, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Statistics,  and Operational Research.

  • University of Wollongong Diplomat Scholarship: The objective of this scholarship is to provide a 30% tuition fee waiver to undergraduate students. It only excludes Nutrition and Dietetics, Exercise Science and Rehabilitation, Education, Psychology, and Social Work degrees.

  • University of Wollongong Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health International School Scholarship: It provides a 50% tuition fee waiver to its students. It excludes courses like Doctor of Medicine, Nutrition and Dietetics, Exercise Science and Rehabilitation, Education, Psychology, and Social Work degrees 

  • University Excellence Scholarship: It offers a 30% fee waiver. It does not provide scholarships to students pursuing courses like Doctor of Medicine, Nutrition and Dietetics, Exercise Science and Rehabilitation, Education, Psychology, and Social Work degrees.

  • UOW Postgraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship: Postgraduate students can get a 30% fee waiver on applying for this scholarship.

  • UOW Alumni Postgraduate Scholarship: A 10% fee waiver is given to its students. It applies to all full-time postgraduate students.

  • Humanitarian Scholarship: A 100% scholarship is given to both undergraduate and graduate students. It is awarded to students pursuing any related coursework associated with the university campus. An annual stipend of AUD 5,000 is provided. For further information on it, students can contact SCHOLARSHIPS@UOW.EDU.AU.

Laboratories

The college has a laboratory. Preparation of environmental samples for radiocarbon (14C) dating of specific organic compounds is able to be completed at the Radiocarbon Dating Sample Preparation Laboratory within the School of Earth & Environmental Sciences. In this laboratory, individual biomolecules can be identified, extracted, and purified for dating, under the direction of Allan Chivas.

The University of Wollongong offers limited parking facilities for students, staff, faculties, and visitors. The Wollongong campus is a restricted parking area, therefore, individuals seeking parking at the university campus are required to follow the  Access and Order Rules to access the parking.

There are multiple transportation facilities available for students to reach the university campus from various locations in Australia. Due to the heavy traffic and gatherings of cars students are advised to seek for public transportation to get easy access to the university campus. Use of public buses, cars, trains, cycling, and walking are a few popular transportation available at the university campus of Wollongong.

Infrastructure

I.T Infrastructure

The college has excellent IT infrastructure. The Student Computer Labs are on Level 1 of Building 17 on the Wollongong campus and provide students with access to email, the Internet, applications software, and printing. The teaching laboratories contain special-purpose software for tutorials run by individual departments. When there are no tutorials scheduled, teaching laboratories may be used by UOW students -- please check the tutorial timetable available online or outside each lab. Students must abide by the IT Acceptable Use Policy when accessing the labs.

No food or drinks are permitted in the computer labs' teaching rooms.

Medical/Hospital

The university ensures 24/7 health assistance for all students. The institution has partnered with Grand Pacific Health (GPH) to provide affordable health and medical services on the Wollongong campus. Students can book their appointments online by visiting the GPHC@UOW website.
