About Queensland University of Technology

The Queensland University of Technology is a public research university located in the coastal city of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia. The university was founded in 1989 and offers more than 100 courses across its five faculties at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. The QUT Business School enjoys triple accreditation from AMBA, EQUIS, and AACSB. It is placed within the top 1% of Business Schools worldwide.

The Queensland University of Technology is among the top 12 public universities in Australia and the top 13% of universities in the world as per the 2024 QS rankings. QUT has a graduate employability rate of more than 90.8% and the popular majors offered at the university are chemistry, engineering, economics and business, education, environment and ecology, etc. The latest application deadline to apply for the Summer intake is October 14, 2024, for offshore international students.

Queensland University of Technology Cost Of Living

Queensland University of Technology Scholarship

The Queensland University of Technology awards several scholarships for domestic as well as international students, however, most scholarships are awarded to Australian and New Zealand citizens. Some of the scholarships that are available to Indian students at QUT are the International Merit Scholarship which covers 25% of tuition fees for the first two semesters (one year), the QUT College English Language Concession, and the QUT College Merit Scholarship. 

All these scholarships are offered based on the academic standing of the students and do not require any separate application. Interested applicants can check their eligibility on the university website qut.edu.au. 

Also, the QUT's Faculty of Science offers PhD scholarships for domestic or international students in specific disciplines. Along with these, international students can apply for external scholarships in Australia to fund their studies and stay at the QUT.

Boys Hostel

The college has a boys’ hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students. The Indigenous Australian Accommodation Program (IAAP) is a twelve-month transition support program available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who are relocating from regional, remote, or interstate to QUT for their first year of study. The program provides subsidized accommodation at Student One Elizabeth St in a culturally supportive environment with a pastoral carer (Oodgeroo Unit's Indigenous Program Coordinator ) who journeys with program participants throughout the year delivering life skills workshops, social and cultural events, and activities.

Laboratories

The college has a departmental-based laboratory facility for the students. Our science and engineering students gain practical skills in some of the most advanced laboratories and workshops in Australia in our $230 million, purpose-built Science and Engineering Centre. We have dedicated laboratories for geoscience analysis, preparative chemistry, molecular genetics research, and mechatronics, as well as flexible laboratory spaces.

Library

The college has a library facility for all students. There are two libraries at Gardens Point: Gardens Point Library, which provides resources and services for students studying business, and science and engineering QUT Law Library, which provides resources and services for students studying law. Our libraries have group study spaces and silent study spaces printing and copying services computer labs and a wireless internet helpdesk for assistance with assignments. Gardens Point Library also has an adaptive technology laboratory, where students with a disability can use specialized equipment a Researchers' Centre that provides study spaces for research students and staff.

Moot Court

The university has a moot Court facility. Our law students can build skills and confidence in mock trials in our moot court. It simulates a real-world court experience and boasts integrated technology including computers and displays screens, international video conference capabilities, video and audio recording, and electronic evidence presentation.

The college has good networking for the alumni association. Your alumni community includes a network of inspiring, influential individuals sharing their lifetime connection with QUT and paving the way for the next generation of leaders. Once you graduate, membership to the alumni community is free, automatic, and for life.

Sports

Sports

The college has sports facilities for all students. As a student, you'll have the opportunity to get involved in premier and social sports competitions. Social sports include aquatics, basketball, netball, volleyball, dodgeball, touch football, and soccer, as well as social dance classes. We also provide training and organization for the division 1 and 2 UniSport Nationals. We are recognized by the Australian Institute of Sport and the Australian Sports Commission as an Elite Athlete Friendly University. We provide flexible study options for our athletes, and more than 200 elite athletes are currently enrolled.

Gym

The college has a Gym facility for the students. new equipment and the latest technology, functional and high-intensity training mindfulness and meditation programs, group fitness classes, free body scans, and community events.

Swimming Pool

The University has a swimming pool Facility. The Gardens Point Aquatic Centre offers a 50-metre FINA-accredited indoor pool. The Aquatic Centre at our Science and Engineering Centre at our Gardens Point campus is open to students, staff and the public.

Parking Facility

The college has a parking space facility for its faculty, staff, and students. You can find parking at both our Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove campuses. Parking is available to staff, students, and the general public. All parking on campus incurs a fee. Because parking is very limited, we encourage you to consider alternative transport options like public transport or cycling.

Cafeteria

The college has a canteen facility for staff and students. The food and retail options at our Gardens Point campus are operated by independent retailers and the opening hours and range of food catering options vary according to the time of day and campus population. The campus is also a short walk from extensive dining and shopping options in Brisbane's city center and across the river at South Bank.
