University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) was established in 1972. It is part of Houston's Health University and is the main center for health care education, innovation, scientific discovery and excellence of Texas when it comes to patient care. UT Health also comprises UTHealth Harris County Psychiatric Center and other teaching hospitals like Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, and Harris Health Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital. UT Health was established with the objective of spreading the importance of biomedical and social sciences among the health science professionals. University of Texas Health Science Center has also other six schools including Jane and Robert Cizik School of Nursing, John P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Medical School, and schools of biomedical informatics, biomedical sciences, dentistry, and public health.

UT Health has four libraries under its administration including TMC Library, UT Medical Branch Moody Medical Library, UT School of Dentistry Library and UT School of Public Health Library. All the libraries have a good collection of books, journals, magazines, newspapers etc.
UT Health offers shuttle services to all the students and employees of the university. Different shuttles have different stops and follow different timings. Students and employees need to board the shuttle on time if they need to avail the service.
