University of Houston has 6 libraries– MD Anderson Library; William R. Jenkins Architecture, Design, and Art Library; Music Library; Health Sciences Library; Conrad N. Hilton Library and Archives; and John O'Quinn Law Library. University of Houston libraries stand as diverse and relevant sources of knowledge and information that assist student learning and scholarly research. Together, University of Houston libraries hold around 3.2 million physical and digital volumes, 724,075 e-books, 1.09 lakh e-journal titles, 159,714 physical and e-journals and other serial subscriptions, and 419 databases. 

In addition, students can access over 400 desktop PCs and 100 laptops. MD Anderson Library is a general collection library that has facilities for individual study, group study, faculty study spaces, laptop lending, lockers, leisure reading rooms. Most libraries have printers.

University of Houston hosts intercollegiate varsity sports as well as recreational sports. Varsity teams compete in NCAA Division I. Varsity Men’s sports include Baseball, Basketball, Cross country, Football, Golf, Track and field. Women’s sports include Basketball, Cross country, Golf, Soccer, Softball, Swimming and diving, Tennis, Track and field, and Volleyball. Swimming Pool

The University of Houston Swimming pool is among the longest in Texas. It is located in the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre. It is a 70 m x 25 yds pool with 1.3 million gallons of water holding capacity. Depth varies from 4 feet to 17 feet. The facility has a 1,000 seating capacity. Diving facilities have 1 & 3-metre springboards, along with 1, 3, 5, 7.5 and 10 metre platforms. A diver’s whirlpool is there to help divers stay warm during meets between dives. Students, staff and faculty can join swimming classes.

Transportation

Transport Facility

Students while commuting within the university of Houston campus or around Houston Metro area, can use a number of transportation options from bicycle to car rentals. On campus transportation options include shuttle rides. Cougar Line is a shuttle service that runs continuously on campus and serves to and from Sugar Land instructional site. Cougar Ride is a night ride facility that serves all campus shuttle stops as well as connects MD Anderson Library and Cougar Village/Moody Towers. Cougar Ride is available between 9 PM-3 AM on weekdays and 9 PM–2:45 AM. The university also facilitates passes and fare cards for discounted travel in METRO transportation.

Bicycle sharing facility is available on the campus at six stations. Central Houston has 90+ stations and 635+ bikes that students, staff and faculty can share at discounted rates. Zipcar is the carsharing facility that the UH community can use at hourly charges.
