The University of Sharjah is situated in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. It is a private university which was established in 1997. The programmes offered at the institute are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the Ministry of Education in the United Arab Emirates. There are some internationally recognized accreditations as well.

The University of Sharjah has an acceptance rate of 76%. This indicates that only a quarter of total applications are getting rejected and the rest of them are alloted admissions. For application, the candidate must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for master programmes and a minimum of 70% in high school for undergraduate courses.

English proficiency should be proved by all the candidates applying to the university via any of the acceptable examinations such as IELTS and  TOEFL.

There is a non-refundable application fee which is charged by the University of Sharjah against every applicant. The fee is AED 360 which is nearly Rs 8107.57 and AED 500 equivalent to Rs 11260.52 approximately for undergraduate and graduate students respectively.

University of Sharjah Cost Of Living

The tuition is diversified at the University of Sharjah as it depends on various factors such as the type of programme and the level of study. Hence, all international students have different tuition fee structures.

The average estimated tuition cost for undergraduate students ranges from AED 45,045 to AED 1,24,215. The tuition fee is higher for programmes like “Dental Surgery” and “MBBS”. However, the tuition is less for courses like “Law”, “Mathematics”, and “BBA”.

The cost of tuition for graduate students can be determined based on the per-credit-hour system. The credit hour required varies according to the programme. The minimum number of credits needed is 24. Some programmes like Masters in “Pharmacy” and “Dentistry” require more credit hours ranging from 65 to 90. Almost all the programmes have a cost of attendance of AED 3,045 per credit hour. Medicinal courses which include Pharmacy and Dentistry have an annual fee ranging from AED 65,000 to AED 2,00,000.

For doctoral programmes, all PhDs' cost of attendance is between AED 5,075 to AED 6,090 per credit hour.

Each AED is equivalent to Rs 22.54 approximately. The University does not charge VAT on tuition fees.

No, it's not expensive to study at the University of Worcester. The institution provides quality education at affordable prices of tuition. The tuition fee is also average for international students when compared with the national average tuition for international students in the United Arab Emirates.

Cost of living 

All international students who want to pursue a course at the University of Sharjah must bring enough money to cover their living expenses. The university has provided campus dorm services. The single special and single normal fees are around AED 12,986 and AED 11,087 annually. However, a double special and a double normal cost less at AED 6,367 and AED 4,712. For triple students dorm, the cost decreases to AED 3,770. The university does not charge VAT on accommodation services.

The standard meal plan for a week is AED 107.65 (VAT added)  which includes 5 meals whereas the plus plan with 10 meals a week costs around AED 215.30 (VAT added) per week.

University of Sharjah Eligibility

The University of Sharjah offers various programmes to students with merit qualifications and talent regardless of their nationality, colour, religion or disability.

For Undergraduate degree courses, the applicants must have the following eligibility:

  • Candidates must complete secondary education or its equivalent level with the required average no earlier than three years prior to joining the University. 

  • Applicants to the College of Medicine and Dental Medicine need to have finished their secondary education no more than one year previously.

  • The applicant should be medically, physically, and mentally fit, and show evidence of immunisation against major blood-borne viral infections to be admitted to the university following the desired major.

  • A student applying to join the university must have completed high school and have had at least 12 years of schooling before the date of application.

  • The applicant should have graduated from a school licensed and recognized by the Ministry of Education in the UAE

  • Candidates must attain a minimum of 70% average in high school.

For graduate degree courses, the applicants must have the following:

  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree

  • Candidates must attain a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 at the University level.

  • Candidates must have English proficiency scores required for their preferred courses.

  • The bachelor’s degree must have the same major as the master's programme.

  • Some additional documentation such as a resume and letters of recommendation if required as per the degree prerequisites.

For admission purposes, all the candidates are required to demonstrate a level of English proficiency which must be consistent with the requirement of the preferred course. It must be proved via acceptable examinations prior to course registration.
